At ICS I primarily work with Qt and C++ on embedded systems, primarily on ARM processors, but some Intel, Mips, etc as well. OS is primarily Linux, but doing a little Android too.Main main work these days involves embedded Linux work with Yocto and related technologies to board bringup, primarily for medical devices (most recently), and a variety of other industries - pallet wrappers, cable spoolers, and other things.In 2014-2015, I was involved in a project writing open source device drivers for IoT (Internet of Things) devices, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors to name a just a few, utilizing GPIO, SPI, I2C, ADC, UART, and other hardware interfaces. These drivers are MIT licensed and written in C and C++ and are meant to be used on Linux systems as well as the Intel Zephyr RTOS which runs on certain microcontrollers like the Arduino 101. Definitely a fun project!

Started as a Software Engineer in 1996 and was promoted to EngineeringManager in 2000. We specialized in hardware accelerated system-level drivers for video cards (from Matrox, ATI, and many others) under the X11 Windowing System on Unix/Linux systems. XiG was the first company to bring true hardware accelerated OpenGL rendering to the Linux and Solaris/Intel platforms.As Engineering manager, managed 3 departments (with accompanying budget and human resources): Research & Development, Quality Assurance, and company-wide System & Network administration. Technical Support was managed by myself and the Sales Manager.In addition, still retained a development capacity within theorganization, being responsible for our Common Desktop Environment (CDE) product as well as Motif, X11, and all product packaging and distribution (CD mastering/Internet delivery) duties, as well as various custom X11 related contract work we were hired to carry out.

Implemented the Network ID Management System (NIMS) for Metro State on their new Student/Faculty server (Digital Unix on an Alpha processor). This was a temporary 6 month contract job involving developing software responsible for the automatic addition and subtraction of student and faculty accounts (approx 20,000 per semester) on the college provided computer system, based on nightly updates from the (Fujitsu/IBM) Administrative mainframe.Also, setup Metro's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) lab fromscratch. This included installing and configuring several NCDX terminal devices connected to the primary Alpha/DU via DECNET LAT along with a few high-end digital plotters.

IF specialized in military applications for the US Army. Started as anentry level developer and graduated to project lead before the company closed in 1995. We worked on various applications for the US Army Personnel Command.Also worked on our new OS initiative - AT&T Unix System V 4.2ES/MP (Destiny). We licensed the Unix SVR4 source code from AT&T and resold it (with enhancements and kernel/user-level bug fixes) to various military/civilian organizations.
