As a storyteller, educator, and artist I continue to blend my unique combination of skills to develop and deliver interactive educational experiences to a variety of learners so that they have the skills and knowledge necessary to engage and make change in an ever-shifting world.In Cognitive Science, I studied and integrated research and theoretical views from the fields of developmental psychology, neuropsychology, evolutionary psychology, linguistics, sociolinguistics, computer science & machine learning, and other various fields. This is aided by my background in various philosophical research programs such as philosophy of mind, philosophy of language, philosophy of psychology, and philosophy of science. I also worked in the iViz lab at Simon Fraser University's School of Interactive Arts & Technology, developing and implementing technologies that blend cognitive and computer sciences to advance the field of generative AI.I then used the knowledge I gained to contribute to Science World's goal of bringing STEAM education to underserved schools in the Vancouver area. I designed courses and delievered them with a team in a classroom setting, bringing Science World's engaging content out from its Geodesic home into the classroom.Concurrently, I worked with students that were inadequately served by the public school system at The Reading Foundation, adapting and delivering individualized remedial education to further students abilities in reading, spelling, math, comprehension, and writing using techniques and activities supported by current research in education, linguistics, and numeracy.As a PDP teacher candidate at Simon Fraser University, I blended my love of STEAM, storytelling, education, technology, and artistry to design interactive units and lesson plans that engaged students in meaningful activities and helped them connect their learning to their life outside of the classroom.Jonathan Waldie Productions [www.jonathanwaldie.com] is my photography, videography, and digital creation business. I work with clients to capture meaningful moments in their lives through photography and videography. I also create short films as well as fine art photography and digital art through the use of multiple methods and programs including Adobe Firefly, Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, and Midjourney.Outside of work, I enjoy building my mindfulness practice, engaging with and giving back to my community through volunteer work and community events, and travelling the world to challenge and develop myself and my understanding of the world.
