My practice focused on both litigation and counseling. I represented clients in federal and state courts, as well as in arbitration and before administrative agencies, in a wide variety of employment-related matters arising under numerous federal and local laws, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, New York Labor Law, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the New York State Human Rights Law. I also served as a resource for clients seeking time-sensitive, practical advice regarding employee-relations questions and compliance with the latest New York labor and employment laws and regulations, including with respect to salary transparency, predictive scheduling, paid leave, and worker classification. I counseled clients on all aspects of the employer-employee relationship, including employment and separation agreements, onboarding and offboarding, performance management, wage and hour issues, employee handbooks, and workplace policies. I closely followed developments in New York law and frequently wrote articles on new considerations for employers.I maintained an active pro bono practice and was recognized with an Excellence in Pro Bono Service Award for my work on a landmark, long-running education-finance litigation.

As a continuing participant in Harvard Law School's Sports Law Clinic, I provided support for various player grievances arising under baseball's Basic Agreement (collective bargaining agreement) by researching precedent arbitration decisions and reviewing the relevant discovery, files and facts surrounding each of the grievances. I provided attorneys with work product such that they could properly represent and advise players. My placement afforded me a continued opportunity to learn firsthand about labor law, sports law and the role of union lawyers.

As a participant in Harvard Law School's Employment Law Clinic, I conducted legal research related to issues arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Equal Pay Act; helped author internal documents/memos concerning pending charges; drafted motions for active litigation; and completed various tasks around expert discovery for active litigation. I was also afforded shadowing opportunities. Through my placement, I obtained significant experience working as part of a government agency and on employment discrimination litigation.

I authored a comprehensive memorandum and conducted legal research concerning panel arbitration awards, other industry arbitration awards, case-law, and municipal codes. As a legal intern in the Office of the Solicitor, I authored legal memoranda on various issues faced by attorneys in litigating cases, such as backpay calculations and securing of defendant's assets under the Fair Labor Standards Act. I also performed legal research concerning contractual and evidentiary issues pertaining to federal trial litigation pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and Employee Retirement Income Security Act. While working on active cases, I drafted requests for legal discovery and conducted document review. I additionally assisted attorneys with trials, administrative hearings, and depositions. My internship allowed me to gain meaningful experience with key aspects of litigation and exposed me to the role of government lawyers.

As an AmeriCorps VISTA at Pro Bono Net, I assisted with the the development of sustainable web-based infrastructure to improve access to and the delivery of disaster legal services for survivors in need of assistance. I interfaced with members of the legal community to institutionalize Pro Bono Net's role in bringing together New York and New Jersey legal providers to collaborate on service delivery and also assisted with the convening and development of a national advisory group of disaster legal services experts. I supported the re-launch of the National Disaster Legal Aid Resource Center, www.disasterlegalaid.org, with significant work on the disaster-filtered National Pro Bono Opportunities Guide, FEMA appeals tool, site functionality, content migration, content curation, analytics tracking and marketing and outreach. My time as a VISTA at Pro Bono Net afforded me the opportunity to help build capacity for attorneys responding to disasters and also taught me about the intersection of law, technology and work in the public interest.

I served as a member of a cohort seeking to increase dialogue on the Cornell University campus as part of a national initiative. The other fellows and I facilitated conversations between diverse groups and built relationships with over 30 students on campus each. By creating events to bring students together and ask philosophical questions, we helped forge understanding and foster a new sense of community at Cornell.

My column "In Focus" appeared every other week for 3 years, a total of 43 installments. I explored campus, local and national issues through the student lens.Prior to becoming a Columnist, I served on The Sun staff as a News Writer.

From the firm's New York office, I worked with Cornell students in the firm's Philadelphia and Washington, DC offices to complete a legal research memorandum and database on municipal "ban the box" legislation. I was able to present at a meeting of partners and associates in the Labor and Employment Practice Group, and afforded shadowing opportunities.

For three summers, I was employed by a local day camp. As a Group Leader in 2011, I supervised four counselors and was responsible for 24 campers. I coordinated the activities of my counselors and ensured campers were safe, engaged and having fun. For the summers of 2009 and 2010, I was a counselor.
