Being a second year student in college, making a career choice is approaching every day. During this crucial point in time there are many career fields to choose from, each with their own interesting aspects; however, the one career field that has kept my interest piqued is the field of robotics/autonomous systems. Going into college, I was interested in computer science since coding came naturally to me. This changed during my first year, however, as the more I researched about topics such as robotics and mechatronics, the less interested I became in computer science. Instead of sitting at a computer for my job, I wanted to be able to apply my learning with hands-on applications, and decided from there that I wanted to be a Mechanical Engineer. Hobbies make up a big part of who I am. Whether it be playing sports with friends, or playing the clarinet, hobbies are what help me get through each week. With the clarinet, I was able to join an amazing music community at NC State, as I have been able to connect and make friends with multitudes of people and really take part in my college community through joining the marching band, all the while having fun and further driving my passion for music. Overall, the one key thing for me that helps drive my hobbies is my immense passion for doing things I enjoy. Continuing through my education, my passion for robotics is only being fueled with each class I take, and I'm thrilled to see where my future classes and potential careers may take me!
