As a Tech Lead, I lead a team of three engineers, expanding our skill set with targeted contract help via the AWS MAP program, crucial for our cloud migration at no extra cost to FloSports. We successfully transitioned our core monolith and database from GCP to AWS with zero downtime along with other applications, a testament to the team's meticulous planning and execution. I took a hands-on approach to mentor and develop my team, transitioning our tools to Terraform and moving our CI/CD processes from CloudBuild to GitHub Actions to better support our developers. I also established critical uptime baselines for our customer services and spearheaded load-testing efforts to pinpoint and address infrastructure bottlenecks. By integrating our team into the wider engineering sprints, I fostered a more cohesive workflow and championed an asynchronous, deep work culture to boost productivity. Additionally, I was instrumental in rolling out Service Level Objectives (SLOs) across the company, shifting our focus from reactive incident responses to proactive performance management.

Developed a comprehensive deployment tool that enabled developers to efficiently deploy applications to Kubernetes via Cloud Build, significantly improving operational workflows and developer interactions. I led the design and implementation of Kubernetes clusters using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), which not only facilitated the creation of preview environments but also allowed for effective testing of infrastructure changes using the same pipeline utilized for application deployments. Additionally, with directives from leadership changes, I kicked off a critical cloud consolidation project, managing the migration from Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to Amazon Web Services (AWS), which began optimizing resource use.

At FloSports I work with our cloud infrastructure focusing on Kubernetes using GKE. I have built a load testing platform leveraging Kubernetes Jobs to allow developers to write targeted tests at different parts of our tech stack which are then parallelized and scaled to stress the system to the limit. Our team focuses on making our developers' lives easier by developing services and deploying off-the-shelf tools to increase productivity and promote the DevOps methodology.

At General Motors, I work as a Hadoop Platform Engineer to deploy and implement new technologies into the Hadoop stack. This involves engineering and supporting 15 PB core production clusters and multiple development environments for our Business and Data Science users.Projects listed below.Ranger and Atlas - As the Technical Lead, deployed role-based access to Hadoop production environments. Led a team under a tight timeline to implement Ranger and Atlas services, which allowed easier on-boarding and off-boarding of groups into the Hadoop environment. Automated Yarn Queue Scheduler - Developed a client based tool written in Go to allow for automated switching of the Yarn Queues for day and night workloads on our clusters. This implemented Kerberos authentication with no client dependencies through SPNEGO authorization to the kerberized Ambari server. This led to the development of a framework of libraries and API's to build new tooling off of. Hadoop Monitoring System - Authored and maintained a large Python code base for monitoring cluster metrics from a remote system through the Ambari API's metrics. This system was integrated into Prometheus and an Oracle database to allow for frontend visualizations to be created using Grafana and a custom PHP dashboard.

At Lynntech, I developed IoT devices and scientific instruments using Python and the Arduino programming language. Projects listed below.Iodine Detector - This was a small embedded device which detected iodine absorbance in cartridges as a countermeasure in areas of the world where the water system did not meet regulatory standards for iodine content. Failure to meet these standards has led to large outbreaks of hyperthyroidism. The core skills utilized in the project were circuit design, Python programming, Qt GUI design, and extensive testing of device consistency.Salination Level Detection - This project was a demo for a contract where the team took sea water and purified it to drinkable water. My role was to integrate the pH and saline sensors with an Arduino board to validate safe drinking levels. Programmed in the Arduino programming language using the I2C interface to the chips for the sensor probes.

Research role in the Texas A&M Department of Physics and Astronomy, I worked as a data analyst under Ricardo Eusebi Ph.D. to research simulations of the Higg’s Boson particle. This role was largely programming in C++ and Bash to run simulations of the of the collision of protons to produce the Higg’s occurrence. This was my introduction into cluster computing and data analytics.

Installed cooling system in Spring of 2013 for use with nano-scale ferromagnet formation. Developed insight to the design and implementation of basic cooling systems.

Mechanical work on aquatic inboard and outboard engines. Operation of forklifts and heavy machinery used for towing capacities. Mechanical work gave an appreciation for well designed engine systems and insight into how to improve system layouts. Learned e↵ective tool skills and engine anatomy.
