My job as a roller operator does not limit me to just compacting the asphalt with a steel drum roller. My responsibilities include, but again are not limited to, being with the crew shoveling, raking, or shoeing when there’s handwork or while I wait for the mat to cool down. I go wherever I’m needed when I’m needed whether it’s on the ground or on a roller. I also drive a water truck to and from the job sites as needed, as well as load and unload equipment. I maintain the daily maintenance on the machines as well as due most of the scheduled maintenance on the machines themselves as well (oil changes,air filters, scraper bars, fuel filters, etc).
