As a consultant/account manager I led accounts and project teams to advance clients’ government affairs objectives across a range of sectors. I focused on government advocacy and engagement in the energy and infrastructure, and the food and agriculture sectors. Clients ranged from multinationals, through to regional councils, industry and professional associations and tertiary education institutions.+ Advised the CEO of the New Zealand Food and Grocery Council on issue management and positioning on a number of high profile regulatory issues.+ Analyzed stakeholder submissions and advised on the governance design of a major water allocation plan for the Canterbury region+ Provided advice on the economic impact of new animal welfare regulation on egg prices and capital investment by egg producers. + Developed and implemented government engagement strategies to encourage the opening of local government water infrastructure to the use of public private partnerships.

Adviser to the Chief Executive of New Zealand’s natural gas industry regulator on strategy, and political and policy developments in the energy sector, managed external relationships with key political and policy stakeholders – such as government ministries and ministers’ offices, and interested advocacy groups. Other work included: drafted key accountability documents and speeches for CEO and Chairman, managed stakeholder events such as the annual meeting.
