Senior Drilling Engineer (Shallow Water - Gulf of Mexico Project) - ConsultantResponsible for well designing, planning, and execution of the second batch of offshore (shallow water) exploration wells in two prospective blocks (2 and 31) assigned to the company in the Gulf of Mexico.

BP has a long and successful track record in Egypt stretching back 50 years. In Egypt our business is primarily in exploration and production. BP currently produces almost 15% of Egypt’s entire oil production and close to 30% of Egypt’s gas production with its partners. BP is working to meet Egypt’s domestic market growth by actively exploring in the Nile Delta and investing to add production from existing discoveries.• Oversaw well planning activities such as BHA, conductor pipe jetting feasibility, bit performance, working in tandem with engineering teams. Identified alternative options for diamond bits, minimising drilling costs whilst improving drilling efficiency.• Technical Lead for the execution of the Atoll 1 ST2 well, providing guidance and support during execution leading to “outstanding performance results” for the well.• Currently leading the planning of 5 Giza Fayoum wells in the West Nile Delta basin (Mediterranean Sea), with responsibility for the define phase of the well including execution.• Responsible for continuously improving drilling operations with a focus on efficiency leading to savings across numerous wells in excess of ~$10M.• Created cost estimates for budgeting purposes; further developed into detailed, execution ready estimates to receive authorization for expenditure.• Identified resources and requirements; assigned responsibilities; coordinated with project staff both directly and indirectly to ensure projects were successfully completed ahead of schedule.• Prepared, developed and reviewed project health & safety plans and risk assessments with multidisciplinary teams to maintain HSE standards.

BP has been in Angola since the 1970s, and in the 1990s acquired interests in four deep water offshore blocks some 200 kilometres northwest of Luanda. In 2011, we acquired interests in five new deep water and ultra deep water blocks in the Kwanza and Benguela basins to the south of the capital. BP is one of the largest foreign investors in Angola, having invested approximately $30 billion by the end of 2016, and with plans to continue to invest well into the future.• Led the drilling of 7 deep and ultra-deep water development wells in PSVM field, 2 exploration and 1 appraisal wells in Block 24, 19 and 31 in deep water; 1700m to 2100m.• Traced and resolved critical issues to enhance operational efficiency, minimizing risk factors and supported the establishment of robust change management and QA procedures. Liaising with Geoscience & Engineering Departments & external vendors on project performance. • Designed and developed well planning processes including project execution for drill ship ENSCO DS6, implementing a New Well Delivery Process as a component of BPs Engineering and Technical Practices, and surpassing regulatory requirements in country.• Integral team member for the implementation of behavior based safety practices leading to the successful execution of projects with no LTAs.• Utilized significant competence developed from hard rock drilling to improve efficiency and safety with Angolan pre-salt wells, Katambi and Pandora.• Successfully drilled through significant anhydrite layers and carbonates in the reservoir section, drilling through mobile salts, whilst ensuring wellbore stability.

• Directed daily activities of project team in accordance with JV goals and within company expectations also responsible for high-level decision making in support of the company's strategic planning, mission, visions, and goals and key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and regulatory authorities.• Planned and executed new prospects including side-tracks and multilaterals for the Happy, Taurt and West Akhen fields using Jack Up rigs for the Pharaonic Petroleum Company PHPC (JV).• Manage project performance reporting across all projects internally to project board and externally to clients ensuring all stakeholders are informed of project performance• Successfully negotiate pricing, terms and conditions, proprietary information agreements, and teaming agreements with several suppliers• Provide forecasts and resultant schedules pertinent to project to stakeholders to measure performance against targets as well as manage contractual requirements to ensure supplier compliance.

• Led planning and execution activities across new development and exploration wells such as; Morgan, Saqqara, Ramadan, Gharb fields across the JV in the Gulf of Suez.• Successfully executed drilling campaign in shallow waters using a Jack Up Rig with water depth at 350 feet with no LTAs or fatalities.• Devised methods for drilling in high pressurised salt bodies, with significant impact to casing; as well as complex reservoir rocks overlain by hard rock bodies and shale layers as well as depleted overburden and pay zones.• Ensure compliance with pre-ops safety meeting requirements and audits operational paperwork and records in accordance with job file requirements.• Strategic planning for Rig Contractor Personnel and all third party contractors adhering to company policy, procedural and compliance within all aspects of QHSE.• Developed comprehensive evaluation models for PSCM to maximize economic recovery from the fields.

• Conducted meetings with contractors on a daily basis to discuss safety and best practices for drilling operations and site work.• Streamlined operations to reduce the number of contractors providing services on the project, successfully managing bidding process for the largest ever Directional service contract at GUPCO, eliminating significant inefficiencies across contracting interfaces. This led to a CAPEX saving in excess of $50 M.• Led Quality Assurance initiatives associated with D&C Performance Management and support across GUPCO with a focus on continuous improvement in the GoS and Western Desert Operations.• Identified resources and requirements; assigned responsibilities; coordinated with project staff both directly and indirectly to ensure projects were successfully completed ahead of schedule.• Prepared, developed and reviewed project health & safety plans and risk assessments with multidisciplinary teams to maintain HSE standards.

• Performed technical drilling engineering for well design, cost estimates; project planning operation support and review of rig requirements in Cupiaga, Cusiana and Piedemonte fields.• Supported technology pilot programs (bits, drilling fluid additives, loaded fiber cements, mud motors, and hydraulics) to improve performance and efficiency and multilateral drilling challenges.• Significant competence developed across a range of well types in hard rock and tectonically active environments. Wells included; vertical, directional, high angle, side track and lateral wells in the Andean foothills.• Monitored daily cost and progress of well operations, acted as a liaison with third party sub-contractors, prepared authorization for expenditures (AFEs) for the drilling of over 30 wells. Well values estimated at ~$40M per well.• Assisted the senior drilling engineers in preparing drilling, cementing programs, casing policy, bit selection and drilling fluid finalizing plans with service companies.• Successfully negotiated pricing, terms and conditions, proprietary information agreements, and teaming agreements with several suppliers.
