BBN, Brandveilig Bouwen Nederland (Fire Safe Building Netherlands), is an Association of producers of passive fire protection products such as coatings, paints, insulation, doors, glass, impregnating agents and smoke controle.The purpose of BBN is to contribute to a higher degree of fire safety for buildings in the Netherlands.I execute this function because it fits in my drive to contribute to a fire safe living environment where according to me not only the safety of humans and animals should be well regulated and damage to the neighbours should be restricted (such as the building Act requires) but also seriously thought should be given to things like minimize business risk, guarantee business continuity, limit environmental damage and preserving historical heritage.

The Foundation Expert Installer passive fire protection (MEB register in the Netherlands) was created to provide the quality and expertise of installing fireproof products. Fact is that that good products often are installed incorrectly. The MEB register is a registry for installers (the people and also the companies) who can meet the criteria of the Foundation to participate in the registry. The Foundation wants to contribute to a higher degree of fire safety in Netherlands and is open to all proposals for improvement of market players, not least the building owners. The MEB in 2016 won second prize at the wellknown exhibition "Building Holland" in the RAI in Amsterdam.

At NEN, the Royal Dutch Standardization Institute Foundation, we connect parties and stakeholders and ensure that they reach agreements that are recorded in standards and guidelines. They do this in national and/or international standards committees. We also support the application and use of standards in practice through training and, for example, practical guides.

European Association for Passive Fire Protection | Association Europëenne pour la Protection Passive contre l'Incendie | Europäischer Verband für Passiven BrandschutzEAPFP was formed in 1988 to act as a "European" voice on behalf of national associations representing manufacturers, contractors and other institutions involved in fire protection to steelwork, timber, and other passive fire protection applications, including penetration seals and ductwork. We represent 2.400 members.Members are national associations for Passive Fire Protection such as BBN (NL) and ASFP (UK)EAPFP has, among others, representation on CEN TC 127, the Technical Committee dealing with the harmonisation of standards for fire safety. Close liaison is maintained with EGOLF, the European Organisation for Fire Testing Laboratories. Meetings of the Association are held on a regular basis at venues throughout Europe to update members on technical issues and to develop closer commercial contacts.

DACH:Germany (D), Austria (A), Switserland (C) and the Netherlands (H*). A working group in which I represented NVTG (Association for Technical Officers Healthcare). It's task is to optimise Fire Protection in hospitals.(*) The Netherlands is often called 'Holland'. Although Holland is just one (1) of the Dutch provinces this is understandable as the ships leaving and arriving in the Netherlands in 'the golden century' did so mainly in Amsterdam, the capital city of (the province of) Holland.

Applicom Firestopping, a leading installer of passive and structural fire protection. I started there in 1994 as sales manager. By 1999 I acquired Applicom through a management buy out. In 2008 we had a turnover of € 12.000.000, having 125 FTE. As from 2014 it is part of another shareholder.

NOVB combines the strengths of a large number of organizations and partnerships in active fire protection (e.g. sprinkler, watermist, fire alarm systems) that increase the fire safety in Netherlands.

Member of the Technical Committee. It determines inspection schedules for active fire protection.

Manufacturer of insulation of mineral wool. I have been responsible for Africa (mainly the Maghreb countries; Tunesia, Algeria, Marocco), South-East Asia and Portugal. Especially active on industrial markets such as oil & gas, paper and chemical industry.

International carrier and forwarder. Great company, wonderful colleagues, great industry! I started here as a trainee, eventually involved in transportation between BeNeLux and Maghreb, Tunisia in particular. In the years I worked there, the company was called 'Wassing International'.
