I am a researcher and lecturer at the Department of Jurisprudence, where I am preparing a doctoral thesis on the application of moral and political philosophy to the question of unreliable and illiberal actors in international law and international relations.I studied Law (LLB), Public International Law (LLM) and Jurisprudence and Philosophy of Law (LLM) at Leiden University. My joint master's thesis was supervised by Prof. Bastiaan Rijpkema and Dr. Letizia Lo Giacco and dealt with the relation between Immanuel Kant's legal philosophy and the right to self-determination in international law.During my studies I worked as a student assistant at the Europa Institute, editing the book reviews for the Common Market Law Review. I was also for several years an editor of the faculty magazine NOVUM, of which he was editor in chief in 2020-2021, and taught working groups for first-year students.My main research interests are the legal and political philosophy of Immanuel Kant and neo-Kantian legal philosophy, the history and theory of international law, and public law more broadly understood. I also have an interest in EU constitutional and external relations law and the law of international organizations.
