Universal Metal Products Mar 2005 - Jan 2009
    Mcallen, Texas
    • My major job in Universal metal to start the die protection program to reduce the amount of Die crashes and miss feeds. To start I researched all the different type of sensors Used for short feed, part out, double thickness and over feed sensors. The sensors are controlled With a Honeywell Die Protection System which detects short feed, over feeds or bad press hits.If the part doesn’t exit the die correctly the press will stop before damage is done. By implementing this program it reduced the amount of die crashes from three a day to two four per month. Many operator errors would be picked up by the sensors to prevent damage. • Troubleshoots dies in production and adjusting tools as needed to produce parts to print and installed sensors. • Repaired broken punches and die sections and did PM maintenance all dies • Analyzed specifications, laid out metal stock, set up and operated machine tools and fit and assembled parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges and machinists' hand tools.• Visualized product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.

    • My main job duty was to maintain the retractor base die by adjustment on the bench or at the press. We scheduled a full PM every three million hits. I was also the backup man on the buckle clip die which was a seatbelt part for sever type of cars.• Studied specifications such as blueprints, sketches, and tool descriptions and planned sequence of operations.• Assisted in die set up and adjusted parts dimension at the press.• Setup and adjusted sensors to keep die from miss feeding and causing die damage.
  • Small Parts
    Production Manager
    Small Parts Feb 2001 - Mar 2004
    Reynosa , Mexico
•I was hired on with small parts as a tool and die maker. I worked in the tool and die shop for six mouths before being promoted to the production manger of a high speed stamping floor and assembly line. My first task was to improve production and make a profit. Before I was promoted, the highest monthly sales were thirty eight thousand dollars a month in finish goods. We grossed fifty-two-thousand dollars the first month with the help of my workers and operators. We turned the production process positive by faster setups and staging everything ready before the operator was done with the run. I installed sensors on dies to avoid die crashes allowing the production to complete. Any die repairs that needed to be repaired at the press were fixed to keep running but if they took more than thirty minutes the die was pulled and the next job set up. Another thing was that the operators were split up during lunch break to keep high running jobs running through lunch. Presses were laid out so each operator could run two presses at the same time. The dies had sensors which were like having a second set of eyes and allowed the tools to run to speed. I also planned and prepared production schedules, prepared master schedules to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts and customer orders. I planned sequence of fabrication, and assembly for all manufacturing operations on the floor. I trained all production workers in the importance of quality so time was not wasted in rework which would only delayed or altered the schedule needed to be meet before the end of the mouth. I prepared production reports, listed of required materials, tools and equipment, identified problems, diagnosed causes and determined corrective actions. I trained press operators for set-up, press preparation and safety.
  • L.H. Carbide
    Tool & Die Maker
    L.H. Carbide May 2000 - Feb 2001
    Mcallen,Texas
    • My duties were to make replacement punch and die inserts. Customers like Orchid need dies rebuild and I would take the die and make new components for model changes or PM’s and install new guide pins bushings. Then I installed all the new punches, inserts or components and checked for proper line up of punches to die insuring that the progression was correct. Not only did I rebuild and repair lamination die for Orchid International but also for GE of Monetary, Mex.• worked on lamination dies made by different manufactures• Planned and designed modifications on dies.
