As the Leading Petty Officer, I guide a training department consisting of only eight personnel. I am responsible for the training and mission readiness of 659 sailors attached to Maritime Expeditionary Squadron One (MSRON-1). As a training supervisor, I provide entry and sustainment level training in accordance with Navy directives and guidelines. This training prepares students in pre-planned responses to Defense Readiness Conditions (DEFCON) against potential terrorist attacks, vulnerability assessments, vetting, radio communications, setting up and guarding entry control points, personnel, and vehicle searches, unarmed individual self-defense skills, use of non-lethal weapons, close quarter combative tactics, firearms, use of deadly force as it pertains to shoot/non-shoot scenarios, as well as basic and advanced marksmanship.
