Two events defined my career:In 2008 during the Great Financial Crisis I worked as a Senior Country Officer at JP Morgan Switzerland and co-orchestrated the industry defining CHF 16bn equity rights issue for UBS Group that ultimately put it back on track. In 2009 UBS called me to create a world leading business for the super rich. For the following 13 years UBS not only became the core bank for Family Offices and Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNW) worldwide but for consecutive years was named best bank for Billionaires. In 2019, the Global Family Office Group (GFO), the fastest growing part of the UHNW business became my sole focus. The GFO mission was simple: to holistically advise the wealthiest families on their business, their family governance and philantrophy. GFO was set up as an exclusive boutique within the UBS Group designed to bypassing traditional banking silos and implementing seemless services across verticals and geographies. Initially at odds with the rigorous structures of a modern, large money center bank the GFO concept was quickly adopted due to extraordinary results. By the end of 2022, GFO managed CHF 500 billion client assets generating 500 million pretax. Team spirit was high, culture was strong and the fun factor impressive. I handed over the business to my successor and have been advising large clients since. In November 2024 I will retire at the age of 61 having spent 38 years in Finance. Meanwhile I was appointed Trustee of the Botnar Institut of Immune Engineering (BIIE), a brand new, Basel based Research Center supported by a donation of USD 1bn+, the largest ever in Switzerland.I am sincerely looking forward to spending more time with my Family, Horse & Hound, Gardening and my Violoncello.
