• Develop data science projects supporting all their stages, from business understanding and data cleaning to training of machine learning algorithms and deployment. Topics covered include malnutrition recidivism prevention, identifying children at risk of sexual violence or abuse, and prioritizing complaints about violations of children's rights.• Support the implementation of statistical models for population targeting of children welfare programs. This work involves the use of large administrative datasets and other official sources of information at the local level• Assist in the design of metrics and analyses that contribute to the development of policies aimed at eradicating child poverty• For these projects I coded in Python, Stata, SQL, Pandas, Numpy, scikit-learn, XGBoost, Keras, SHAP (interpretable ML), Geopandas, Microsoft Azure (Data storage and Databricks), Spark, MLlib, Matplotlib and Power BI. Machine Learning algorithms used include regression, Random Forests, gradient-boosted trees, and feed-forward neural networks.

• Assisted two research projects: The Costs of Crime and Violence in Latin America and the Caribbean, for the Inter-American Development Bank, which included two research papers making use of large administrative datasets and econometric tools, one about the relationship between violence and international migration in Guatemala and Honduras, and the other about the effects of crime in firm productivity across Latin America; and a book chapter about the future of the oil and carbon sector in Colombia, included in the book “Descifrar el futuro. La economía colombiana en los próximos diez años” (Unravel the future. The Colombian economy in the next ten years).

Lecturer in ECON 101 (Introductory Economics)

• Supported the research “Managers' Productivity and Recruitment in the Public Sector: The Case of School Principals" led by Pablo Muñoz y Mounu Prem, about the Chilean educational system.

• Participation in the following consulting projects: the current state of articulation between actors in the Colombian business ecosystem; Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) of Venezuelan migrants; and characterization of creative and cultural industries in Colombia

• Support the processing of large databases related to the Colombian armed conflict and respond to information requests, share information among governmental entities, and track victimizing events.
