My name is Joseph Lamb. I am a senior mathematics major at The University of Maryland. I enjoy the problem solving aspect of mathematics, and I hope to use it in my career. This summer, I am interning as an actuary at Gallagher, GBS. I am working with Defined Benefit Programs assessing the liabilities and assets of a plan. In prior summers, I have worked as an Algorithms Engineer and a Software Engineer. During these internships I found my passion for the data driven financial analysis that was core to the business. These internships taught me about working in quantitative fields and in small teams. These experiences allowed me to be the leader I am today.In the future I plan to use my ability to learn complex topics and communication skills to pursue a career in finance. I am excited for what the future holds, and I look forward to the connections I will make along the way.
