Joseph Hunter, a native of Grant County, Washington, is a testament to the power of personal transformation and resilience. His early years were marked by struggle, and he began using drugs and alcohol in middle school. After being prescribed opiates in his 20’s, Hunter then spent the next 15 years in active addiction before finding recovery in 2016.Hunter’s advocacy journey began in 2017, and he has been a driving force in North Central Washington ever since. In 2020, he took his commitment to new heights by entering the field of recovery as a professional, leveraging his personal experiences to inspire and uplift others on their path to recovery.Today, Hunter is a dedicated Project Manager specializing in prevention, recovery, re-entry from incarceration, and advocacy. He views the world through the lens of recovery, using his lived experience to create and lead projects that provide vital support to the recovery population. Engaging in this work has ultimately led him to become an advocate for change at the city, county, and state levels.His reach extends even further, as Hunter serves on the Chelan/Douglas Board of Health, where he contributes his expertise and insight to shape policies and initiatives that benefit the community. He is also the current President of the Wenatchee Alano Club, an integral organization within the recovery community that provides support and resources to individuals on their own unique journeys.
