Starting at pouring babbitt into molds and fitting them to guides, the work covered round saws in board edgers and curve saw, band mills in large single mill and quad mill arrangements, edgers, chippers, and some exposure to planers. Familiar with restoring gullets, rake, and kerf. Worked as a curve saw operator and a few days in a row produced over 600,000 board feet and our best day was 630,000 board feet for day shift only! (fun day with outstanding team work and swing shift nearly matched those numbers for well into 1M board feet in one day) Focus of mill was premium lumber and it was exciting experimenting to maximize product potential, quality, and efficiency. Overtime was a regular option which was mostly spent working with millwrights plant wide on all of the various equipment. It was a great experience! Show less

Evaluation of progress was constant as the team worked on many projects to meet goals or deadlines. Pebble Beach Concourse "Concourse de Elegance" is the feature event annually and to receive invitation (vehicles have to be presented and evaluated before consideration and possible invitation) and to have your work podium and often receive top honors is highly fulfilling.
