About Joseph Mcneil
I am a planetary scientist specialising in Martian geology, currently working at the Natural History Museum. My research combines multi- and hyperspectral techniques with traditional geological remote sensing to understand the role of water on ancient Mars. As a member of the CaSSIS (Colour and Stereo Surface Imaging System) camera team onboard the ESA Trace Gas Orbiter, and through my involvement with the ExoMars Rosalind Franklin Rover mission, my work is at the forefront of Mars science and informs the future of robotic exploration.I earned my doctorate in planetary science from the Open University in 2023. My background in terrestrial geology includes a master's degree by research in earth science and a first-class BSc in geology from Royal Holloway, University of London. This foundation allows me to integrate terrestrial geology knowledge into my planetary work, enhancing my analytical capabilities. My research has been published in numerous academic journals, and has been recognised with prestigious awards at the conference, university, national, and international levels.
