Senior transactional attorney with significant experience across a wide range of subject areas, including software licensing, intellectual property, strategic partnerships, commercial contracts, cloud computing, data privacy, HIPAA and enterprise software. Skilled negotiator focused on partnering with sales and business stakeholders to drive commercial decisions that maximize revenue and implement key business objectives, while effectively communicating and managing legal and business risks. Joseph is currently a Senior Vice President & Associate General Counsel in the commercial licensing department of MicroStrategy, a publicly-traded enterprise software company. In this role, he manages a team of over 25 attorneys and non-attorney legal professionals with responsibility for the company’s global commercial contracting operations. In addition to his extensive managerial experience, he has also personally drafted, reviewed and negotiated hundreds of software license agreements, cloud computing agreements, end user license agreements, professional services agreements, OEM agreements, reseller agreements, technology agreements, strategic partnership agreements and procurement agreements with customers, partners and vendors, including many Global 1000 companies. Joseph has also led or co-led a number of critical company initiatives during his time at MicroStrategy, including the development and implementation of a process improvement plan that has driven significantly-increased efficiency in the company’s day-to-day business and legal operations.
