In this role I advocated for the California Department of Education on the federal level. I worked with Congress, the federal government, and a variety of interest groups to ensure California's students and schools received the resources and supports they needed to thrive. Additionally, I lead the Federal Stimulus team in the Government Affairs Division and was responsible for overseeing $33 billion in COVID Relief funding. In this capacity, I worked with both federal and state stakeholders to ensure that schools were supported in using this funding and that funding was appropriately monitored. My position required me to work with the California Legislature and various other state agencies to ensure proper coordination.

As a Legislative Coordinator with the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), I was responsible for overseeing any bills that impacted DHCS through the entire life cycle of a bill. This includes meeting with any stakeholders, advocating for a position on behalf of DHCS, coordinating technical amendments for bills, making recommendations to DHCS administrators and the Governor's Office, and researching the legislative history of a bill. Throughout my time at DHCS I worked on a large volume of bills that were highly complex and sensitive. Due to the large volume of bills I was responsible for during each session, I feel confident in my organizational, multi-tasking, and analytical skills.

As a Legislative Analyst with the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Office of Legislative and Government Affairs (LGA), I was responsible for responding to legislative and constituent inquiries. My position required the daily use of CapitolTrack and the CaliforniaLegislative Information website. I received Bill Analysis Training and helped edit multiple analyses. When editing a bill analysis I made recommendations for changes that were accepted by LGA management and I helped communicate the desired changes to DHCS program staff. My position helped me gain confidence in researching, analyzing, and communicating legislative information. I also was able to gain valuable experience with bill assignments and bill re-assignments. Throughout my time with LGA, I had to research the functions and duties of different DHCS programs and I strived to create good working relationships with said programs, in order to successfully perform my job functions. My position also required me to develop relationships with and have daily communication with legislators, legislative staff, committees, state and local agencies, and interest groups. Also, my position required me to understand complex and sensitive topics, such as: the Local Educational Agency (LEA) Medi-Cal Billing Option Program, Children's Services, sober living environments, Medi-Cal Dental Services, and Provider Rates.

In this position I was responsible for analyzing, reviewing, and making recommendations related to legislation and other program issues. These other issues included trainings, travel, budgets, and contracts. The position required me to train, present, and communicate with a variety of state agencies, federal agencies, and legislative staff. I analyzed legislation that impacted the Department of Justice, such as: Proposition 47, AB 953, AB 60, and the Uniform Controlled Substances Act. Based on law changes I had to make presentations and lead meetings for various California agencies. These entities included: legislative staff, law enforcement agencies (local, state, federal), medical professionals, state agencies, and media representatives. I worked on a variety of projects that required me to do both qualitative and quantitative analysis.

With the Department of Water Resources (DWR), I worked on several large projects that were critical to the State Water Project. I created and documented testing requirements in Excel spreadsheets. I was in charge of identifying problems on large projects and communicating possible solutions. I created manuals and trainings for concrete and soil testing. My time with DWR allowed me to learn and analyze different ASTM engineering standards that were highly complex. It was essential to use complex numeric calculations every day. My work also involved the use of financial reporting and analyzing project contracts. I had to communicate through phone calls, e-mails, and written reporting. I worked and maintained relationships with DWR engineers, outside contractors, vendors, and others. My position required me to work on multiple projects at the same time with competing deadlines and it was imperative for me to properly prioritize my work. Also, itwas important to properly organize and document previous projects for future reference. Quite often projects would have setbacks that would require me to be adaptable and diplomatic. In many instances I had to travel to projects in Southern California by myself and make quick decisions on job sites under immense pressure from competing interests. This position required me to be able to effectively work independently and in team settings to meet expectations.

At Vertis, I had to use effective communication and planning to coordinate marketing campaigns. My position required me to manage several high profile corporate accounts such as Lowe's, Save Mart, and Vons. I personally oversaw projects that required coordination of clients, manufacturers, and transportation representatives. Throughout my time I constantly used Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Office. The position required me to communicate through e-mail, telephone, and meetings. Also, I was in charge of purchasing office supplies and maintaining inventory for the office. I created procedure manuals for different accounts. Throughout my time, I worked to come up with innovative ways for production and distribution of marketing materials.
