I will never forget the awe I experienced when I first used a computer. It is one of my first memories! I was only about 4 or 5 years old when my father taught me how to open the game Captain Comic from a floppy disk on our 286 Emerson. Upon realization of my new skills my mom enlisted me for all her computer needs. I guess you could say I grew up pair programming. Later as a machinist, I was introduced to G code and this reinvigorated my wonder for programming. I remembered how I used DOS and the command line to run Captain Comic and I wanted to understand what was happening with the code that was actually running the CNC machines. A friend that had recently graduated from Tech Elevator learned about my curiosity and recommended Tech Elevator. This desire to understand how things work and share this with others has been a theme throughout my career. Whether it was learning to run a restaurant and training my employees, or learning Tai Chi and sharing that with cancer patients, one of my greatest joys is learning something new and sharing that with others. I am currently seeking a role as a Jr Full-Stack Developer that allows me to experience this joy on a daily basis and relive the same awe I had as child when I first used a computer.
