CurrentUndergraduate research assistant working on the SNIFS and INFUSE sounding rockets.Tested vortex cooler to characterize performance. Improved cooling 54% by mitigating ice buildup seen during testing. Led replacement of cooler with LN2 system to enable use in hotter climates, and significantly increase system efficiency.Implemented and built rocket ground support equipment, including cart for rocket transportation and vacuum pump system. Satisfied all design criteria and modified equipment as needed to meet changing requirements. Supported clean room operations, including mirror inspections and testing, fit checks, and assembly.Programmed in Python to enable simulation of data that will be collected. Built processing pipeline for spectra data.Provided CAD modeling and FEM analysis support for project. Used SOLIDWORKS to complete 6 parts for 3D printing and machining, including components to fly on rocket. Ran Ansys structural and vibration simulations.Machined structures and mounts using milling and CAM. Delivered parts within spec at lower cost than alternatives.Assisted with payload integration at White Sands Missile Range. Preformed vacuum cart upgrades, fastener torquing and staking, and supported instrument alignments.
