I am a former U.S. Air Force service member and retired U.S. Army logistics manager with over 20 years of experience with management, transportation, supply chain, and warehouse management. I'm always asked about the differences between the services and if the Air Force is really better than the Army. I feel the services are both great experiences and they vary from person to person but I will say this: while in the Air Force my work took me to Germany, Belgium, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Poland, Honduras, Pakistan, and Iraq; the Army took me to Afghanistan--twice. Overall my experiences were positive in both services. I learned a lot in both services and feel I am the better for it.I am a military brat as well. I've lived all over the Midwest and the South as well as Germany and Honduras. This has influenced my leadership style and interactions with people. My ability to develop and cultivate relationships is one of my greatest strengths.I love to learn new things. I learned the BASIC programming language when I was in elementary school, which helped me develop my skills with spreadsheets later on in life. I also learned Microsoft Office while in middle and high school, which has helped me in my military career. While in Honduras I taught myself Spanish and became fluent. I'm currently taking classes to earn my PMP certification and plan to obtain my MBA in the next two years. At all of my jobs, I am always reading and learning to stay current in my profession. My leadership style is collaborative. I like to get buy-in from those with whom I work. I also believe it's important to take care of your people as they are the ones who get things done. So I'm also a servant/leader. It's always about the team and not the individual. I never ask of my people something I've never done or am not willing to do myself.
