Ametek is a manufacturer of high end Industrial Analytical Equipment used in refining, labrotories and industry. I am responsible for overseeing long-term purchasing agreements covering $12 million in spend. Optimize and manage a supplier base of 35 primary vendors and over 75 secondary vendors, maintaining high quality suppliers and strategic relationships. Negotiate KANBAN and blanket pricing for long term agreements to ensure proper and consistent supply of production material. Experience includes 11 years working with Consolidated Communications (formerly North Pittsburgh Telephone Company) as the Purchasing Manager where I was responsible for purchasing most of the items necessary to successfully operate a telephone company. Purchased high-end telecommunications equipment including satellite transmission equipment and all supporting electrical components as well as OSP construction materials and vehicles. I also was responsible for cell phones, purchasing cards, uniforms, office supplies, maintenance supplies and contract labor. This process required working closely with design and engineering groups, accounting and construction to see projects to their completion. I introduced the method of early purchasing involvement and helped engineering realize the advantage of such a program on designing new systems, negotiating pricing, coordinating delivery and completing projects on schedule and on budget. Responsible for overseeing $50 million in spending for 5 locations in 3 states. Optimize and manage a supplier base of 25 primary vendors and over 55 secondary vendors, maintaining high quality suppliers and strategic relationships.Manage an accurate inventory of over 4,000 items valued at over $3,000,000.Supervise a purchasing team of 5 salaried, and 4 union direct reports.Responsible included all forecasting and monitoring inventory levels as well as negotiating all contracts and vendor pricing. Implemented JIT inventory system. Consulted with departments to automate inventory, invoicing and accounting systems. ·Cost Evaluation Company’s rapid growth from nine to twenty-six employees over two years made it essential to continually review overhead structures and office expenses for potential cost savings.·Quality Control Managed customer relations to ensure quality service. Responsible for distribution of electronic parts to over 2,000 domestic and international customers. Developed and maintained departmental accounting procedures. Upgraded from hand written accounting method to integrated software method to include general ledger, journals, spreadsheets, payroll, inventory and complete tax assessment. Installed inventory control system using REALWORLD software. Implemented data entry, reconciliation and evaluation of inventory.
