Bermuda

• Managing a full-time staff of 30 responsible for a regiment of 400.
• Liaising with Police, Fire, Customs and Excise, Airport, Maritime, Bomb Disposal, and Riot Control authorities and auditing their plans and budgets to identify potential cost savings and improvements in standards.
• Conducted review of existing equipment and contracts, and achieved cost savings through renegotiation of existing contracts and sourcing better quality supplies.
• Developed disaster management strategy and contingencies in such circumstances.

Pretoria Area, South Africa

• Assisted South Africa National Defence Force (SANDF) in identifying training needs and devised rationale and purpose of training to support those needs, and constructed syllabus for field training exercises.
• Utilised knowledge of service providers and contacts to resource training interventions.
• Provided Strategic Leadership training to senior SANDF officers and Air Force, and led training on media operations to senior SANDF officers.
• Built relationships with key members of the Defence Force to promote the United Kingdom as the ‘defence partner of choice’.
• Acted as Advisor to the British High Commission on crisis and disaster management/responses.

Birmingham, United Kingdom

• Senior Officer delivering training to the University Officer Training Corps and a Territorial Army reserve unit of 300.
• Designed annual curriculum and wrote major exercises for the Corps, which saw Officers posted on operational tours.

• Direct line management accountability for the readiness of 120 officers and soldiers, overseeing their training, HR matters, and welfare support.
• Reconstituted unit following operational duty by introducing new systems and techniques, and recruiting further personnel.
• Provided advice to senior commanders on weapon capabilities and other battalion resources.
• Led tour to Iraq, and liaised with local security services in the training and development of their Army and Police services.

Wiltshire, United Kingdom

• Participated in major strategic review of future UK Army structures and capabilities.
• Managed media and public communications on behalf of the British Military during the first democratic elections in Iraq.
• Briefed and negotiated with senior military commanders and Ministry of Defence officials on potential efficiencies, and successfully secured agreement to deploy military bands at army hospitals and relieve infantry.

• Advisor to Commander on all external media communication matters, and acted as senior spokesperson for the Brigade during invasion of Iraq, a tour of Kosovo and 9/11.
• Developed corporate branding and engagement with external stakeholders whilst based at camp and during overseas operations.
• Introduced internal communications programme for employees and families.

• 2000 – 2001 HQ Company Commander managing all logistics support to 200 strong Infantry Battalion in Northern Ireland, including welfare, discipline, and leadership.
• 1999 – 2000 Company Operations Officer responsible for operational planning, daily operations management and incident management of a rifle company in Northern Ireland and major exercises in Ukraine and Gibraltar.
• 1998 Pharmaceutical Representative for Eli Lilly whilst on sabbatical from the military.
• 1995 – 1997 Regimental Signals Officer managing all communications planning, equipment management and security of highly confidential cryptographic material for a ‘High Readiness’ Infantry Battalion in barracks in UK.
• 1994 – 1995 Company 2nd in Command/Company Operations Officer in Northern Ireland responsible for operational planning, daily operational tasking and incident management for 100 strong rifle company on operations.
• 1992 – 1994 Platoon Commander on operational tours in UK, Falkland Islands, Kenya, and Northern Ireland.
