My name is Joseph Paul Eilerman. I am a native of Jacksonville, Florida currently studying Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of North Florida. As this is my final year in the program, entering into a combined dietetic internship and graduate program is my main goal for the imitate future. The reasoning behind me pursuing a degree in nutrition is simple, I wanted to learn how to lose and maintain my weight. At my heaviest I tipped the scales at a hefty 350 lbs, and knew that I had to drastically change my lifestyle or risk the complications associated with obesity. Nutrition was the answer, what I learned in the class room was applied to my daily life and over the span of a year I was able to lose and keep off 130 lbs. I want to use my struggle with weight management to help others along their journey, and hopefully be an inspiration to all younger Americans that weight loss and healthy weight management is within their grasp.I have worked diligently in school to maintain top grades, receiving the Dean's List award numerous time, and to fulfill my duties as the University of North Florida Student Nutrition Club's Treasurer. These responsibilities have prepared me for a future in Dietetics; ensuring that I have the knowledge, dedication, communication skills, leadership ability, and passion to succeed in this profession.
