This job improves my skill and knowledge of what I learned in my internship, reaching the point of completing the maps with proficiency and fulfilling the task in the given timeline and in an organized fashion. I continue to shadow the field crew and have learned how to use additional instruments and equipment, including our GPS locus system. I have worked on different types of jobs including corner records, general boundary and topographical maps, tentative maps, and records of surveying.

At this internship, I was introduced to both the field and office environments of Land Surveying. I researched and completed project proposals to organize and prepare for upcoming projects. I learned how to use the Land Survey version of Auto CAD. I was taught to make a various number of maps such as boundary, topographic, parcel/lot line adjustments, and easement detail maps. I was then checked as I made them under the supervision of the senior drafter and the licensed surveyor. To experience both sides of surveying, I shadowed our field crew and learned the equipment and instruments that are used in our normal day jobs. This included GPS and laser units to find boundary corners, create topo points, and place aerial targets.

My job consisted mainly of support on the site of catering events. I was the main dishwasher at these events and learned procedures to work more efficiently with both the serving and kitchen staff. I needed to work well under pressure and learned to be flexible when problems arose. Towards the middle of my time with the kitchen, I started to help more with prep for large-scale events and planning/organizing equipment for multiple events running on weekends.
