As a Learning Experience Designer for EHS, my key responsibility involved conceptualising and developing learning programmes for our Critical Risks (the risks that can cause serious harm) across our family of businesses. Whether it be in the form of formal classroom training & assessment, online learning, or taking advantage of opportunities to embed learning in the flow of work, everything done always came back to how we reinforce the fundamental belief that all injuries are preventable and how we help to ensure we get our people home safe every day.

My role involved supporting our strategy to be an undisputed market leader through being unashamedly customer-focused. This meant partnering with key stakeholders to provide full end-to-end L&D support whether it be assessing learning needs, program sourcing/design/ delivery or management. Having portfolios such as Customer Service, Sales, Manager Capability, Workforce Optimisation, and LMS, this was truly a fast-paced and rewarding role.

My primary function focused on the academic delivery of learning programmes across our campuses. This meant ensuring our learning material was in line, and to quality, with current and future industry needs. This also included ongoing upskilling of our academic staff with skills to meet the demands of the 21st century, deliver engaging learning to uplift our communities being served and apply andragogical knowledge in their practices. My teams included the level 3 & 4 Business Programmes and Level 3 Retail.

Being a part of an organization serving a community from a lower socio-economic demographic, social challenges during their lifecycle at best can be inevitable. As a program coach, my role involved providing pastoral care to learners to help remove barriers that may prevent them from succeeding in their studies. A challenging yet extremely rewarding role.

During my four years with Two Degrees, I held various roles to support our drive to fight for fair. In the early years, I was a part of a smaller customer service team helping in the wider vision to hit a million customers (which we hit). Starting in service roles to support business customers and complex technical issues in data support to spending two years supporting L&D training new staff in inductions, coaching store sales staff in the branch, and running the coaching programme for our customer service staff nesting in their new roles.
