After integrating in to the work force at Exeter Depot, I was able to complete my team leader training and become a relief team leader for my team. Then I completed my training to be an interim production manager. I would perform these roles in the absence of my team leader or production manager. This taught me a different aspect of the workplace; organising workload, prioritising maintenance tasks, attending conferences to discuss engineering matters, dealing with external companies and contractors, auditing staff to ensure that standards are being maintained, being the point of contact for any issues.

Ensuring the safety of the rail vehicles and all personnel on the depot. Working in accordance with engineering documents and adhering to company procedures.

Integrated in to an engineering discipline through an electrically biased apprenticeship on the railway with Great Western Railway. Here, I was able to focus on achieving an NVQ level 3 in electrical and mechanical engineering, BTEC level 3 in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and then continuing on to a HNC/ HND.This allowed me to develop skills within the workplace completing various tasks on a range of vehicles which we have within our fleet at GWR.
