I also post the Payroll journal and must make sure Wage & National Insurance costs go to their respective expense account, any sickness deductions or unpaid absences are accounted for, SMP gets reclaimed correctly and the correct amount of taxes are paid to HMRC which is done by cross checking our payroll report and that which is submitted to HMRC.
