I have nine years of experience in the Accounting field with a combination of audit and general ledger experience. Currently, I am the Accounting Manager with the Kansas City Royals primarily focusing on the monthly close process. My responsibilities include invoice creation, cash reconciliation, recording debt & interest accruals, recording ticket & sponsorship revenue, and various other activities. I also help with our non-profit organizations with closing of the balance sheet, creating financial statements, and helping with any year end audit requests. Previously, I was an Internal Auditor with Sprint on the Financial Compliance Review team. I reviewed policies and procedures for different departments and groups, learned the process through client meetings and created flow charts, assessed controls and weaknesses, and performed detailed testing. Process Improvement Opportunities were developed, if necessary, and results of the testing were communicated with the client.Prior to Sprint, I worked as a Senior Accountant for Renewable Energy Group. I performed monthly closing of the Balance Sheet which included account and inventory reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, and creation of GAAP Financial Statements.
