Firewall Administrator
Providing support for Fortinet devices such as Fortigate and FortiNAC, as well as various network items.
Senior Engineer
As a Senior Engineer, I primarily assisted other engineers or acted as an escalation point for tickets where assistance was needed. I also managed our NinjaOne environment and worked with the vendor to resolve issues with it's capabilities. I was also responsible for working on projects, typically from start to finish.
Automation Engineer
I worked with our team to identify sources of issues that could be resolved by using automation related to our NinjaOne RMM environment. This would typically involve building a script that NinjaOne could run (e.g., Powershell, batch, or others) should an issue be encountered. If the issue was reported via the RMM, the script would run initially and typically self-resolve the issue.
It Engineer
My primary duties were based on migrating and integrating the data brought over from Dataworks Consulting after the purchase of my former employer.
Senior System Engineer
I started as a Level 2 Engineer and worked up to a Level 3 Engineer. At the close of my tenure with Dataworks Consulting, I was primarily responsible for maintaining our internal network, assist fellow engineers with issues as they arose, act as an escalation point for issues that required extra technical knowledge, manage and perform projects from inception to completion, and assist management with the hiring of other engineers. I was also tasked with ensuring we maintained our SOC2 compliance.
Network Administrator
During my tenure with Convergence Networks, I was responsible for the health and maintenance of up to 16 different networks. These networks spanned multiple industries including manufacturing, architecture, medical, and law offices.I helped design and implement upgrades to existing infrastucture as client requirements necessitated. This would include the addition of new hardware such as Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), Virtualized Server Environments, and network equipment. I also worked with clients to map out their Wireless Access Point deployments to ensure proper coverage for their office floorplan utilitizing standard wireless network tools.I worked within our documentation tools such as Connectwise to track time and tickets for clients. I also worked with Remote Management tools such as Kaseya and LogMeIn Rescue to remotely troubleshoot client issues as they came in.Another aspect of this position was to work as part of a Service Catalog Team to determine what technologies should be implemented for clients. These included both hardware and software solutions that would be applicable to multiple different industries. Typical software in this situation would include things such as Quickbooks, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Office 365, and others. Hardware was typically determined by vendor, such as Dell, Fortinet, QNAP, and others.Above all, my position required that I give expert customer service and ensure that users are empowered with the technology they are using.
Network Administrator 3
At BrightWire, my number one job was to provide excellent, polite, and concise customer service. This was our shared goal above any technical skill.I started out not knowing everything that would be required of this position and utilized online services to learn new technologies that I could then recommend to customers. These technologies were based around Windows Small Business Server 2008 and 2011, followed by Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2.I was responsible for multiple clients across several industries such as law offices and manufacturing. These differing industries allowed me to learn how to adapt to changing requirements and provide solutions that matched client requests. I was also able to learn new options such as ERP solutions to ensure that my clients were able to handle their necessary business processes without too much excess burden.I also learned how to configure and maintain WAN connectivity and VPN connectivity for clients that required it. This included ensuring that a site utilizing an MPLS network connection was able to utilize their Lync Server to it's fullest capabilities. It also allowed me to design disaster recovery solutions where data was backed up at one location, then transferred to another for safe keeping.
Desktop Technician
I was responsible for internal and external technical support while working at Sensaria. The internal client experience was my responsibility with approval from a team of Network Administrators. I worked with them to integrate our Active Directory Domain with Samba on their primary Linux Servers.I was in charge of building any new computers that came in, retiring the device that was being replaced, and ensuring that the user had all software necessary to perform their job functions. On the representative side, I was responsible for fielding telephone, email, and web chat requests for support of an in-house built Java application. While this typically required a simple uninstall and re-install, it also allowed me to gather troubleshooing information from the application itself to provide to developers, allowing for a new solution to be created.
Sr. Knowledge Technician
At SafeHarbor Technology, I was initially hired as a tier 1 representative for complex network and firewall troubleshooting. I moved to a Sr. Knowledge Technician role upon completion of WatchGuard Firewall training per their internal documentation, as well as merit related to customer service skills. As a Sr. Knowledge Technician for WatchGuard firewalls, I was required to provide Tier 2 support for firewall related issues. This would require gathering log information, firewall configuration, and data analysis of traffic through the firewall to diagnose and repair configuration issues for the client. I would also sometimes be required to work with the customer and their internet service provider to determine if the issue was local or remote to the client site. When our contract with WatchGuard completed, I was moved to the Quality Assurance team to ensure that our representatives were providing the excellent customer support they should. I would listen to phone calls, provide analysis, and in some cases recommend training for an employee that needed it. While team leaders were responsible for an employees actions, it was typically my recommendation that set in motion the remediation needed to ensure quality was provided to all clients.I then worked for our Intel DSL Modem team with British Telecom. This team allowed me to learn about DSL technologies and also gave us opportunities to try out new Intel technologies such as 802.11 wireless devices. We also worked closely with the Kyocera Team to test and recommend updates to their new line of Palm based cellular phones.Upon leaving the technical team, I worked as a Knowledge Engineer, creating solutions that would be presented on client websites. These solutions were taken directly from the troubleshooting done by our Knowledge Technicians, formatted for proper use on the client website, then uploaded to client support websites.
