After the pandemic, I was keen to find a new job outside of retail, and realised Iwwas still in the bracket to be able to more easily get a modern apprenticeship. While looking at these, I discovered NatureScot looking for a number of positions including someone to work on their post-pandemic estates strategy.Since starting at NatureScot, I have learned a great deal about admin, running an office at an organisation level, and what criteria are desirable in an office. I have also gained insight into how the public sector operates compared to the private sector, and how gaining government approval works with business cases.I am sincerely enjoying the work, but my contract is only until September 2022 at present

After high school, I started working part time at Matalan, before moving up to full time after I dropped out of university.My roles in the organisation were pretty diverse, ranging from maintaining the shop floor, running tills, putting out new stock... After I had been there for a year, I was trained up in their cash office to do all our counting and banking admin. This is where I came to learn that I had a small passion for admin work.By the time I left, I had also been trained up as a store keyholder, allowing me to manage staff for a few hours on days when management was light. I was also head of the tills, coming up with innovations there, training new staff on them, and keeping them running efficiently.
