FounderColoredboxes Jan 2019 - PresentWe built ColoredBoxes for current and future founders who know they need all the help they can get to build companies that disrupt business-as-usual. Because let's face it, no one (and that includes us) can do this effectively by ourselves! (even though, nonetheless, most of us still try!) -
FounderLife 3 Dec 2022 - PresentNorth Bend, Wa, Us"...and now for something completely different". Corporate work sucks meaning and fulfillment from our lives. It is an outside-in approach to life. Let's do the opposite, together, shall we? Once you get a taste of inside-out, you are going to become addicted to a far better way of life. For more, see livelife3.com. "Goals are for Losers" (hat tip Scott Adams) -
FounderOne Into Many Marketing Strategies Jan 2008 - PresentNorth Bend, Wa, UsI help entrepreneurs find their life’s work and turn it into a business or turn their business into their life’s work. Either way, all roads lead to the doghouse! -
Founder Of Seattle And Redmond LocationsHouse Of Genius Aug 2012 - PresentLondon, GbHouse of Genius brings together entrepreneurs and a diverse mix of perspectives and expieriences from the community each month for an evening of disruptive thinking that creates genius. Everyone is a panelist, three of which are also presenters. The collaboration evoked by the mix of people in the room, and a format that circumvents personal bias, provokes new, stimulating thinking out of thin air. If this sort of thing fits your passion, and you wish to be with us for a night of disruptive thinking, please apply to participate as either a presenter or a panelist at http://houseofgenius.org/apply/seattle/. -
Ceo And Co-FounderZerotouchdigital Jul 2014 - Jan 2015Richmond, Virginia, Us"Hello people, welcome to the future", Courtney Anderson, age 4, announced to crowd of 25 people upon arrival at Rattlesnake ledge in North Bend, WA (after being carried by me most of the way up the mountain). True disruption happens rarely. When it does, the dam bursts open and imaginations run wild. With OMNIA, application developers cause the dam to burst open by building applications that can intermingle with other applications creating new functionality at run-time. How would you like your calendar in the cloud to integrate with your alarm clock by your bedside so you can sleep an additional two hours when your 6:00am call in London is canceled while you are sound asleep? “Hello people, welcome to the future” -
PresidentMomentum Power, Inc. Jul 2013 - Dec 2013Momentum Power leverages technology to keep batteries charged while driving. Turns out its been done by others previously as seen here: “Pawn Stars” - Watch the segment on “The glow in the dark car” http://www.history.com/shows/pawn-stars/videos/get-in-the-ring. And to top it off, car companies and energy enthusiast weren't biting, so the company pivoted to building their own car. We had a good time working on this project and had great access to some amazing people doing amazing things in this world, but sometimes reality gets in the way. Great life lesson that some dreams are just that, dreams! -
CeoMicrosoft Alliance As A Service Jul 2012 - Jul 2013North Bend, UsFour years after leaving Microsoft to discover unknown possibilities, I had an epiphany for building a startup. What came to me was a vision for radically changing the way companies build strategic alliances. The timing felt right because in the 90’s strategic alliances accounted for less than 2% of total revenues and today they are north of 30%! The first phase of the vision was creating a company focused on helping partners align with Microsoft, because that’s what I personally knew best. The market response isn't what I had expected and so putting this service on the back burner and investing my heart, mind, and soul in another direction to be announced shortly. -
Vp Market OperationsByndl Mar 2013 - Jun 2013BYNDL provides a mobile commerce platform targeted at unattended retail. It enables vending machine providers and operators to realize their vision for fundamentally changing the way customers experience vending. Though competition is heating up in this space at the end of the day, the consumer will be the big winner here!

Founder And Partner For The Transformation Of BusinessAdvantage Consortium May 2010 - Nov 2010UsThe Advantage Consortium believes every age has a significant advantage and that those who harness that advantage early, reap the rewards. So the consortium is on a quest for the "holy grail" of the conceptual age. If you are stuck in information age thinking and hear the cart with the guy yelling "bring out your dead" coming down your street, then now might be the time to join us in the movement from information age thinking to conceptual age thinking. "Hey wait, I'm not dead yet" -
CmoQuestus5, Inc Sep 2009 - Jun 2010Redmond, Wa, UsQuestus5 had a business model to help small to medium businesses transform the cost structure of knowledge work in order to increase their capacity to innovate. Business Week called this the ultimate competitive advantage. This was my first startup and though it failed in execution, I did some really great work, learned my greatest business lessons to date, and found out that I LOVE STARTUPS! -
Business Strategy ArchitectMicrosoft Jul 2006 - Jul 2007Redmond, Washington, UsDeveloped a program for the HQ Executive Briefing Center to enable business relationships between Microsoft Executives and the top CxOs in world to go beyond a customer relationship and into partnerships for building market leading strategies, knowledge sharing, and co-branded initiatives. This turned out to be a bit of let down because most of the heavy lifting was already being done by the Briefing Managers, so not a lot of innovation. However, I had a blast completey rearchitecting the EBCs reporting away from dry, boring facts and into deep insights that had real meaning for senior execs. Also redid the EBC branding and graphics because they were so poor and lacked a sense of professionalism needed for such a significant global, customer facing part of the business. Trivial stuff but I have to admit it was like having a fun, second job on the side. -
Senior And Lead Product ManagerMicrosoft Jan 2004 - Jul 2006Redmond, Washington, UsBuilt an automated product roadmap tool and a single cohesive all-up Enterprise story to tie all Microsoft products together. The purpose was to give the field the tools, content, and presentation they needed to close large enterprise agreements. These initiatives were chosen by more than 16,000 field personell to close more than $12 billion in enterprise agreements in the first year alone. For me, this was a big deal because this project had been passed from VP to VP for several years with zero success. With the help and support of Bob Ellsworth I did the first successful version in 3 months! -
Technical Product ManagerMicrosoft May 2000 - Dec 2003Redmond, Washington, UsEstablished Microsoft's credibility as an enterprise software provider for large mission critical systems and changed the negative perception of reliability/availability for Windows Server. Moved industry analysts, such as Gartner, from "not realiable for enterprise applications" to "as reliable as mainframes and Unix in well managed environments". This was a big accomplishment for a company whose realiability reputation was in the tank at the time and had been for many years. -
Sr Program ManagerMicrosoft Jan 1995 - Apr 2000Redmond, Washington, UsBuilt a multi-vendor support ecosystem across the PC industry to increase customer sat and decrease costs. Managed the implementation of the first "Incident Exchange Standard" in the world between Microsoft and HP. Found out I love being first and creating all the innovations required to make that happen. -
Thought Leader And Subject Matter ExpertConsortium For Service Innovation Jul 1996 - Apr 2000Boston, Seattle, Dallas, Las Vegas, UsHighly active in developing industry models and data exchange standards for multi-vendor support in the high-tech industry. Invented what is now known as the "Swarm" model. I called it "putting the problem in the middle". This model enables eveyone to contribute to solving the problem euqally vs one person owning and then escalating to another. INNOVATION! -
Board Of TrusteesTsanet Jun 1995 - Apr 2000Overland Park, Kansas, UsWas an active BOT member responsible for R&D and a vocal and visible advocate for new multi-vendor support models to end finger-pointing, especially in mission-critical environments. Created the vision for and architected the community alliance model that drove the dramatic expansion of TSANet's capabilities and subsequent membership increases. Years later, the executive director of TSANet, Dennis Smeltzer, told me that without that work, TSANet would not exist today. That was one of nicest things a person can say and made me even prouder than I already was of that work. -
Technical Account ManagerMicrosoft 1993 - 1994Redmond, Washington, UsManaged the Novell relationship for Microsoft through our support relationship (our only touch point at the time). Was responsible for managing the resolution for the now infamous "Black Screen of Death". (This naming was the precursor to the "Blue Screen of Death"). This was a great role for me at an exciting time and years later had to provide testimony to the DOJ concerning the meetings and conversations that had taken place. So it was HISTORY IN THE MAKING! -
Support EngineerMicrosoft Dec 1990 - 1993Redmond, Washington, UsSupported Windows 3.0, DOS 5.0 and Many other products. At One point I was a Network Mentor supporting Novell and other network clients running on Windows 3.0. Drove a meeting that brought Gates and Frankenburg together to finalize a MOU between the two companies. Miracles do happen! -
Sales Rep For Microsoft Programmer'S Library BundleVolt Technical Resources Apr 1989 - Nov 1990Orange, Ca, UsSold Microsoft Programmer's Library CDROM bundle over the phone to programmer's before CDROMs were mainstream. Only person in history that I am aware of to have sold 20% of an entire Microsoft product line by himself. -
Game CounselorNintendo 1988 - 1989Redmond, Washington, UsAnswered game play questions for most Nintendo games and also did customer service for a short period of time. Was a temporary worker here while looking for full time work after just moving to Washington. And had a BLAST I might add. One day a guy 20 years older than me who really struggled doing his job told me he was going to get a job at Microsoft and I said "doing what" and he said "it doesn't matter, I'll do packaging if i have to... anything at Microsoft will turn into gold". He woke me up with that brief statement and changed the course of my life. THANK YOU whoever you are! -
Sales RepresentativeAlco Windows May 1986 - Oct 1988Sold Replacement Thermal Windows and Doors to homeowners throughout the inter-mountain region. This taught me the basics of the sales process and I learned I really enjoyed making money :-).
-
Package HandlerUps Dec 1983 - May 1986Atlanta, Ga, UsWorked the twilight shift while attending college. Started loading and unloading and quickly moved to the sort isle. Also happended to be in the best shape of my life. Basically was a 3 to 5 hour workout for 5 days a week. And they PAID me to do it! -
Video Game Arcade ManagerWestworld Amusement (Trolley Games) Jun 1979 - May 1983Managed the start-up and operation of a new Trolley Games Video Arcade back in the day. Brought the store to profitability in the first month of operation and maintained healthy returns throughout my tenure by attracting and catering to families vs. loitering teen crowd. Prior to this, I once played Asteroids for 48 solid hours on a single quarter at the Safeway on 4th south in SLC, UT. (only stopped becuase i couldn't stay awake). Favorite game of all time ROBOTRON!
