- Ideated and led the creation of a new model of telemedicine eye clinic that has a start up cost 50x lessthan a traditional eye clinic- Created the business case and financial projections for a new model of eye clinic, and assisted in presenting the idea to funding groups, ultimately helping to raise $250,000+ in seed funding- Designed and tested the core logic for our medical algorithm using advanced survey tools, which was ultimately used to successfully diagnose common eye conditions in 2,500+ patients and counting- Partnered with optometrists and ophthalmologists to standardize care across the telemedicine clinics. We created a library of videos in Creole, plus treatment guides and step by step instructions for the nurses in Creole and English. The library included guides and instructions for each of the algorithm’s 30+ possible treatment recommendations and was accessible on the nurses smart tablets.- Worked with doctors and engineers to create a refraction device and an app, which together allows aminimally trained technician to correct basic refractive error for a majority of presbyopes/myopes(within .5 diopters)- Worked with third party engineers and oversaw the creation of a camera that makes tele-eyecareeasier by nearly eliminating the glare that normally reflects off the surface of eye in standard photos- Worked with third party engineers and oversaw the creation of an app for taking and annotatingmedical images with a smartphone, allowing for higher quality machine learning training data- Led the beta clinics in Southern Haiti through multiple iterations, with half eventually reachingprofitability by year two, and oversaw the establishment of additional clinics in Haiti and Sierra Leone
