It all started with pesto. I was 5 years old, hungry and curious. I wanted to know all the ingredients that created this wonderful substance, it was pesto. A week later digging in the backyard I was building a garden to grow basil. This experience is indicative of my entrance into investing, my entrepreneurial spirit and innovation was ignited at 5 and ever since I have been turning problems into solutions and solutions into capital. After pesto came houseboats, I was able to sell 11 houseboats during that four-month summer and after expenses produced approximately $300,000. It was 2008, when the stock market crashed. I plunged funds into the November 2008 bottom buying mining, material, financial, and technology stocks. I watched and waited. I was long. The basil was back! My suspicion was that funds were coming back. Funds came and I cashed out. I moved to San Jose California and was hired as an Associate Banker at a Wells Fargo franchise then moved to Morgan Stanley’s stock plan division in Palo Alto-Menlo Park. During that time I acquired my Series 7, 65, 3, and my California State Insurance license. I handled stock plans for all the local tech companies and worked the trade desk executing trades, I loved this! I showed up at 5AM and worked till 6PM every day and came in on the weekends. I worked with Morgan Stanley’s financial planners to create detailed plans for each of them. I was then able to trade and hold accounts away and so I found myself intrigued by names like Amazon, Now, Bitcoin, Tesla, and Ethereum. At that point I could see how technology and cryptocurrency were going to revolutionize the world. Another stock market crash. I plunged money into the market in March of 2020. I purchased a block of Tesla shares when gas was $1.97 per gallon, dove into Bitcoin at $1,000, in addition to putting significant funds into Amazon, Zoom Video, Beyond Meat, Fastly, Service Now, and Peloton (among others). I rode the bull market, streamlined, and cashed out at the peak. I love evaluating risk and reward and have experience with VC funding from my time with Greystone Consulting and Sandhill Road–Palo Alto Complexes.
