For the last thirteen years I have been employed at BWX Technologies where I have had the privilege of honing my skills in data mining, trend analysis, and the creation of simple to understand solutions that have allowed the organization to surpass our business goals. As the lead quality analyst I have leveraged my expertise with analytical software to create a multitude of metrics that are used by our sites management team, operational excellence group, and shop floor leads. This includes the creation of dashboards, online metric tools, and business reports.I create and oversee the calculation of corporate metrics such as the overarching Cost of Nonconformance, scrap costs, maintenance hours and supplier issues. I also own the monthly report-out to our executives, as well as the semiannual quality systems report required by one of our customers, the Naval Reactors Program (NR). I have successfully maintained strong business connections with our customers that has enabled our organizations to jointly define functional specifications of development work and formal engineering change requests such that they are clear and meet customer requirements while remaining achievable. This has made me intimately familiar with government contracts and the enormous responsibility assigned to each individual when completing this type of work.Additionally, I currently interface with three teams that facilitate investigations of manufacturing issues. These teams have seen improved success with the accuracy and timeliness of their investigations due to my initiatives that grew the group’s numbers while standardizing training materials and implementing updated investigation tools. Working in this fast-paced environment has given me experience managing my priorities when working on projects while supporting ongoing organizational endeavors. My background in mechanical engineering has allowed me to use my technical ability and knowledge of mechanical systems, to derive meaning from large collections of machine data.
