-Updating the 6 year LOM Enterprise mine design and schedule to reflect mining actuals, depleting all historic excavations from scheduled developments, incorporating new designs (hanging-wall drives), amending resource assignments based upon tracked KPI’s and fleet reductions, levelling the schedule and incorporating reportable production fields such as grade domains L.G, M.G and H.G for blending ratio’s on the ROM pad, aiming to deliver 2,000t at 0.84% Ni per day.-Orchestration of a Mine Planning Hotlist for the prioritisation of scheduled mine planning activities such as development design changes, slot designs and stope ring designs.-Auditing all designs from the Munali Re-start to identify historic design oversights, rig parameters and weaknesses throughout the sign-off process. Implementation of standardised mine planning design templates, with particular attention to stope ring designs to simplify the design for the survey department to mark-up and long-hole operators to drill. -Development of adherence reports to track and monitor U/G contractors responsible for raise mining and long-hole production drilling. Ensuring short-medium term KPI attainment. Project Management-Key member of a project team set up by the Mine Manager to rectify operational complexities encountered i.e. stope hang-ups and the CAF backfilling operation. Focusing on delivering planning and operational efficiencies and solutions to project critical activities.

Development of numerous SOP’s including a Stope Production SOP to outline all individual departmental step procedures that played a pivotal role in stope production, and a Face Mark-up SOP to outline sound operational practices to ensure lateral blast rate attainment. Driving SOP implementation, training and conduction of audits for compliance.-Close collaboration with the Mabiza Resources Ltd. Health and Safety department to improve efficiencies in incident investigation and reporting, enhancing the level of detail captured throughout investigations, format, content and turn-around time of incident and accident reports. Conducting numerous investigations with the H&S department, providing mining engineering knowledge to route cause analysis.

I was granted an extremely valuable opportunity to undertake an internship with Consolidated Nickel Mines in country operating company, Mabiza Resources. The main intention of which was to gain a further understanding, knowledge and appreciation towards the future operating and ongoing care and maintenance procedures at the Munali Nickel Mine, South Zambia. Throughout the duration, I was introduced to a wide variety of concepts, such as plant optimisation, PFD’s, the industries strict health and safety practices and inducted to Zambia’s Mining Regulations. - Field assistance & logistical support for the collection of primary data for a PhD Exploration Geologist, University of Leicester (1 week).- Underground mapping of the Munali Ultra-Mafic – Mafic Breccia Unit and its associated sulphide mineralisation on multiple footwall drives, to depths in excess of 300 metres. - Exposure – hands on experience to social investment, through a variety of projects including, a clean burning stove pilot survey, the main intention of which was to educate the local community members (rural Zambia) through several discussions and demonstrations- tackling a number of socio-environmental issues including illegal deforestation.- Assisting and logistical support for an international consultancy capital investment visit – acting as the back-up on-site geologists. Providing information towards the geological database whilst maintaining high levels of professionalism.- Conduction of a site-report to evaluate mining as a business model, gaining an insight into departmental activities, care and maintenance procedures and future optimisation through the inclusion of a separate copper floatation system & DMS plant.
