Problem solving is like baking a loaf of bread, part science and art. Science provides a proven ratio of ingredients and a series a steps to follow; however, one needs to be able to feel the dough to know how long to knead. Indeed, it takes both knowledge of the fundamentals and a personal touch to create a delicious loaf of bread and to solve a complex problem. My niche is applying science and technology fundamentals in creative ways to solve problems.I like to solve problems by gathering as much information as possible while focusing on the big picture. This approach allows me to see the problem from many angles and understand the impact of a decision on all of the interconnected parts. A bird's eye view also keeps me motivated to continue to work hard and always search for a better way to be doing something.This approach has created many success in my young career. My Python programming skills resulted in hundreds of hours per year saved by automating data entry process in the lab, while improving data quality. I've applied statistical testing, design of experiment (DoE), six sigma principles when evaluating suppliers for reagents and ended up saving 40% on reagent costs by switching to an identical but cheaper reagent. I believe that my strong mixture of science, math, and technology skills provides a unique insight into the problem solving process.
