I'm a Principal Officer - Chief Executive / Chief of Staff at Natural England. I give strategic advice to the Chief Executive, functionally manage a couple of Senior Advisers, and keep things running smoothly in our fast-paced private office.Before this, I was a Senior Press Officer at Defra, leading media and communications for Nature, Climate Change, and Rural Affairs. I also worked on the Fisheries and Marine brief, handling EU exit plans and media strategies.My civil service career started at the Charity Commission for England and Wales, where I secured positive coverage for it's compliance and policy work. Before moving on to work at the Department for Business and Energy to work on promoting the government's work on climate change, renewable energy and the offshore wind sector deal. I produced and advised on media and communications plans for Defra, Natural England and the Environment Agency.As an experienced senior press officer, I routinely supported Defra’s Secretary of State with media interviews and visit opportunities. The sessions concentrated on the Low Carbon Skills consultation and the 2050 energy pathways policy of the Department. I contributed to the Advisory panel's report "Energy: How fair is it anyway?" Which focused on intergenerational equity in the UK's energy policy.
