I provide strategic advice and insight to the Chief Executive on immediate risks, issues and opportunities.I advise the Chief Executive on policy and engagement and functionally manage two Senior Advisors. This includes running a fast paced private office while providing advice and preparation on engagement with Defra Ministers, external visits and support for interactions with Natural England's board. I act as the main link for the Defra sponsorship team and feedback on issues and opportunities to ensure a good working relationship between NE & Defra. I also liaise with private offices in particular with the office of Natural England's sponsoring Minister. Internally I work to join up actions from NE's leadership team to ensure effective decisions. I support teams to provide effective briefing and advice to the CEO. I also provide handling and communications advice on the management of key emerging issues and support the CEO and chair with external engagement, speeches and other materials.

As Senior Circuit Steward and Trustee I play a leadership role in the church, support the Ministerial team and assist with the governance of the charity. As one of the national centres of Methodism in the UK, we seek to be an inclusive home for Christians in London and celebrate our heritage with an on site museum and learning programmes.

I led the Nature, Climate Change and Rural Affairs brief, line managing two press officers. I produced and advised on media and communications plans for Defra, Natural England and the Environment Agency.As an experienced senior press officer, I routinely supported Defra’s Secretary of State with media interviews and visit opportunities. This included leading on communication plans for international visits such as the COP15 Biodiversity Conference in Canada, COP27 in Egypt and arranging and staffing her media interviews on the ground.I was also successful in boosting the Environment Agency’s and Natural England’s media presence, achieving significant national media coverage for the EA’s CEO’s speeches on nature and climate change and creating visits and national broadcast moments (ITV, BBC, R4 Today, Channel 4) on nature recovery for Natural England’s chair and CEO.

I led the Fisheries and Marine brief, managing two press officers during a time of high political and media scrutiny. As the lead department for fisheries negotiations with the EU. I led on handling plans for EU exit, no deal, emergency funding schemes and response to channel fisheries disputes such as licencing. I drafted scripts for the prime minister's spokesperson and worked closely with No10 press office, FCDO posts and Cabinet Office to manage UK and international media interest in Brexit.Key highlights also include leading the press launch for: the first major new legislation on fisheries in 40 years - The Fisheries Act 2020, the UK's last in person fisheries negotiations in Brussels and promotion of the Environment Agency's lock down fisheries success.

Secondment with the COP26 Unit to support the delivery of a successful COP26 in Glasgow. Joining a small team in the COP Unit ahead of COP26 I hit the ground running and created new media handling and Newsdesk procedures. I led on the announcement of the Vatican faith summit working closely with VVIPS, the FCDO and relevant embassies.During the summit I accompanied COP President Alok Sharma on his opening media round (Live BBC, CNN etc) and other media interviews and provided briefing as required. I also supported media logistics for VIP arrivals and bi-lateral meetings ensuring international media and host broadcast were coordinated effectively.

I created a major media campaign to launch the Offshore Wind Sector Deal. Other duties included staffing and briefing Ministerial media appearances for the Business Secretary and Energy Minister including visits to energy sites, morning and regional broadcast rounds. I also created social media copy and graphics on clean energy.

Working within a busy press office I led on securing positive coverage of the Commission's compliance work, tackling abuse and mismanagement in charities. I increased the reach of the Commission's inquiry (formal investigation) and non inquiry casework with coverage secured on high profile and sensitive cases. Working on routine queries from the national press I was able to build relationships with key contacts and react quickly to breaking news stories. I briefed senior staff, preparing them for interviews and provided advice on how to react and comment on issues that affect the Commission. I routinely took part in the out of hours press office rota.

I formulated responses to media queries from trade press and national media, drafted press releases and promoted the GPhC’s work on social media. I supported the GPhC's engagement with parliamentarians in Westminster to promote greater understanding of the role and work of the GPhC.I kept colleagues within the GPhC up to date on relevant news stories and developments in Parliament and Government.

Responsible for supporting the implementation of the Communications departmental plan, I worked to create effective processes to enhance the productivity of the department. These processes covered marketing project requests, and the management of media and communication resources. I wrote and implemented the charity’s social media strategy and staff guidelines. I supported departments in drawing up communications and marketing plans. Additionally I managed a team of ten part time promotional staff and supported the day to day administration of the department.

I ensured that the voices of children and young people were represented in the development of the Childhood and Youth Research Institute's research agenda and that it's ideas were 'youth proofed'. I received training in; Research Ethics; Basic Research Skills; Reviewing Proposals. Through the role I helped researchers with the design, implementation and evaluation of their projects, Shared research findings with other young people and promoted the Institute. As a member of the PEA group I assisted in the planning of a day of active citizenship which received funding from the The Economic and Social Research Council.

I was responsible for undertaking research on 'recognition and telling'​ for the Office of the Children's Commissioner as part of a joint team from Anglia Ruskin University and University of East Anglia. Key tasks included content analysis and the creation of interview materials and questions and the running of focus groups with children and young people.

One of a board of 13 young people between 16-25 who managed the British Youth Council. We were the principal representatives and were collectively responsible for BYC's finances, staff management, developmental and strategic work.The British Youth Council, as the national youth council of the UK, aims to connect with its member organisations and networks of local youth councils, to empower young people aged 25 and under, wherever they are from, to have a say and be heard. It aims to help them to participate in decisions that affect them; have a voice and campaign on issues they believe in, inspire them to have a positive impact, and gain recognition for their positive contribution to communities, society and the world

I planned and took part in a Boy's Brigade international project to the Caribbean in July 2012, The project involved the fundraising and planning of a leadership exchange between the Southern Caribbean Region and volunteers in the UK. A respect for intercultural working and the ability to respond to uncertainty and challenging situations proved useful.

As a member of the Trustee Board I had overall responsibility for the management and administration of the organisation, The Board meets around 5 times per year and is the ultimate decision making body at Queen Mary Students’ Union. I was a member of the Audit and general purposes committee which scrutinised the accounts and governance of the organisation, I was also a member of the appointments committee which appointed new independent trustees.

As a member of the Residential Support team I provided out of hours support to student halls of residence. This included: Attending to basic maintenance tasks, promoting student wellbeing and a community spirit with in halls, responding to first aid or other welfare emergencies and, acting as a fire marshal.

As a member of the board I was responsible for the financial and governance arrangements of this large charity which operates a large estate of more than 200 youth hostels in England and Wales. I was particularly interested in youth participation and governance and assisted in the implementation of the organisation's transformative capital strategy.

As a member of the panel I met with Ministers, the Chief Scientist and Policy officials as they went about their work. The sessions concentrated on the Low Carbon Skills consultation and the 2050 energy pathways policy of the Department. I contributed to the Advisory panel's report "Energy: How fair is it anyway?" Which focused on intergenerational equity in the UK's energy policy.
