As a freelance consultant, I bolster my clients' product design capabilities by proactively driving the design process -- generating concepts, performing technical analyses, and refining concepts into detailed designs. In this role I became a more active player in the vision-shaping process for new product ideas in the earliest concept stages, while still playing a leading role in turning those visions into reality. As a senior member of a small R&D team, I wore many hats — mentor, designer/engineer, project manger, installer, testing specialist, and more. Juggling so many projects and roles was quite challenging, but I rose to the challenge by developing new methods for managing my time and priorities. I became quite effective at using productivity management apps to pivot quickly between projects as priorities changed without losing important details on projects that were temporarily moved to the back-burner. In addition to teaching these work methods to other members of the R&D team, my contributions during this period included:◆ Taking a new system development from blank paper to a fully functional prototype in 9 months◆ Designing and releasing vastly improved locking mechanisms for the company's casement and awning product line as well as a substantially expanded portfolio of configurations for the same◆ Developing a process by which non-technical colleagues could easily estimate thermal performance values for the company's products and share this information with potential clients

In this role I turned visions into reality by developing, testing, and releasing tangible product improvements and new product offerings based on high-level concepts generated by the Director of Engineering. During this time, I helped maintain the company’s position on the cutting edge of the luxury fenestration segment with numerous additions to our product catalog, including:◆ 2 patent-protected system features◆ Key components of an existing system redesigned to improve thermal performance by 40%◆ A new sliding window system with improved thermal, acoustic, and structural performance◆ A brand-new casement and awning window system providing new functionalities while matching the minimalist aesthetic of existing product linesI also strengthened the capabilities of the team as a whole by designing and constructing an in-house chamber for NAFS/AAMA air and water penetration testing, automating certain aspects of that testing, and developing new types of internal documentation to improve company-wide access to written references on our products.

As a machine shop assistant, I aided other students using the college machine shop by advising on best uses of equipment, interpreting technical drawings, and fixing small problems with equipment.

In this role, I collaborated with a small team of peers to develop and run a 10-week summer education and enrichment program for elementary-aged kids in Pomona, California. I led the program's math and art classes, developing curriculum for three different grade levels and teaching multiple sessions each week for both classes.

In this role, I provided support to engineers by assembling technical drawing packages, compiling information into reference spreadsheets, and performing calculations.
