I work with a team of epidemiologists, toxicologists, and risk assessors to identify and address the causes of childhood lead poisoning in Maine. The work focuses on implementing Maine's Lead Hazard Reduction Act which provides funding for lead inspections, technical assistance for private home owners, and the enforcement of lead safety standards for rental properties. Enforcement is achieved through issuing abatement orders when landlords fail to keep lead paint in good condition and relocating tenants when housing is unsafe for children. I coordinate lead inspections, interpret the reports, and oversee the progression of abatement from issuance of the order to the clearance of a property. I also provide resources to parents, landlords, and stakeholders in Maine's environmental and housing sectors.

Studying exposure to and health impacts of metals and toxins in urban agricultural soils. Developing sampling protocols and conducting field work to collect soil, water, compost, and produce samples. Utilizing IRIS data and PubMed literature reviews to construct risk models. Using Excel to clean, manage, and evaluate Qualtrics survey data to build a multi-pathway exposure model for ingestion, inhalation, and trans-dermal uptake of contaminants. Receiving training to conduct deterministic and probabilistic risk assessment.

Trained to operate heavy machinery including tractors, excavators, stump grinders, and wood chippers.
