Public Information Officer
CurrentFrom writing grants and maintaining two websites to marketing the county fair and farmers market through multiple social media platforms, a column in the local newspaper and media outreach, I do a variety of jobs for our local county government and elected officials. My strongest skill sets are writing and working with local media to provide up-to-date and vital public information. I provide content for two websites including stories, photos and videos which I produce. I work with our various team leaders to create social media and video strategies for conveying public awareness of community assets such as wellness classes, the farmers market and the county fair. I design graphic assets for video and social media consistent with branding for our separate entities and I network with other entities and the general public in multiple projects which I then promote across a variety of platforms and mediums. I enjoy visiting with senior citizens, veterans and other members of the public and directing them to the appropriate person or department for assistance but I also enjoy the intellectual stimulation of working on a grant application and researching data and information to support that application. I have a broad base of talents and experience and have learned to be flexible and adjust to accommodate a variety of situations. I like to plan strategically and will schedule social media posts, plans for news and website stories, etc. well in advance, but I also respond well to tight deadlines and unanticipated jobs such as the last-minute power power or talking points needed by an elected official or a press release or media post needed to respond to a weather event, critical incident or facility closure.
