I am now semi-retired! Effective July 2021, I'm leaving the San Jose-Evergreen Community College District in San Jose, CA, and moving to Placerville, CA, to care for my elderly father. However, once settled, I may be open to job opportunities if the situation permits. Background: I moved from New York to Southern California in my early 20s, and at the age of 25 began working as Executive Assistant to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Genisco Technology Corporation in Rancho Dominguez, CA. That started my career as Executive Assistant to various CEOs. The good news about this career path is I've learned so much about leadership, people, and how organizations work; how they succeed and why they fail. The bad news is the need to keep moving on because most CEOs serve for 3-5 years before they retire. And the new CEOs brought in their own teams, which left me searching for new jobs more often than I would have liked...although I doubt I would be as expansive and flexible as I am today without that life experience. For the past 14 years, I've worked as Executive Administrative Assistant to the Chancellor and Board of Trustees and in the Administrative Services Office of the San Jose-Evergreen Community College District. This has been my longest tenure with an organization since I was no longer vulnerable to losing my position during leadership changes. Along with providing administrative support to the top leadership team at the district, my focus was on Board policies and Administrative procedures review and updates to ensure district compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
