I am a seasoned, results-oriented management and governance specialist with years of experience in project and organizational management, employee and volunteer training, press and community relations, and strategic planning, in both the not-for-profit and private sectors.Currently, I serve as Director of Government Affairs for Frederick County (MD) Government, serving as liaison to with state and local government entities, including twelve incorporated municipalities. Most recently, I served as an elected official on the Board of Education of Frederick County, providing educational leadership, policy and strategic direction, and fiduciary accountability to the taxpayers of the geographically largest county in the state of Maryland. I also work on a contractual basis for organizations, developing training and presentation material, conducting research and producing white papers.At the state level, I led the legislative advocacy of my local board of education. On behalf of the Maryland Association of Boards of Education, I represented all 24 Boards of Education in the state on the Maryland Commission on Innovation and Excellence in Education, which was tasked with making recommendations to state educational policy and the financing of k-12 public schools. At the local level, I set and support the tone and culture driving our successful school system, build consensus, cultivate and nurture productive relationships with students, staff and families, fellow Board members, community and business leaders, and policy-makers and elected officials at the local, state and federal level.I am well-known for critical thinking coupled with consensus building, consummate diplomacy in even the most challenging environments, high-quality work delivered on time, and exceptional organizational acumen.I have been called to serve on strategic planning initiatives and governing boards based on my experience in governance, oversight, policy development, and my ability to work successfully with a diverse group of stakeholders.My experience includes program administration, campaign development, stakeholder relations, conference planning, and volunteer management and training.
