I currently teach Family and Consumer Sciences on the Secondary level. Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is the comprehensive body of skills, research, and knowledge that assists individuals to make informed decisions about their well being, relationships, and resources to achieve optimal quality of life. The field represents many areas, including human development, personal and family finance, housing and interior design, food science, nutrition, and wellness, textiles and apparel, and consumer issues. The following courses that I teach are Independent Living, Family Relations, Life Planning, Child Development and Parenting. The Family and Consumer Science (FCS) classroom is a very informal learning environment where students gain knowledge through real world lessons and hands-on activities that stimuate analytical and cricital thinking skills.

Provide prompt access objective, research-based information and educational programs to individuals and families in the Family and Consumer sciences. Network in the community for what areas need improvement related to human and technological resources.Collaborate with public and private partners to better utilize our resources, enhance our effectiveness, and reach a more diverse audience.

• Assist in the creation of a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of children with an emphasis on language development and emergent literacy skills. • Assist in the cleaning and straightening of the child care rooms at the end of the day, as well as putting away any outside equipment• Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information on a continuous basis• Assist in the development and facilitation of interactive parent and child literacy activities• Maintain a safe environment based on safety standards set by law• Maintain open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child’s family and encourage their involvement in the program

•Supervise and monitor the safety of children in their care •Prepare meals and organize mealtimes and snacks for children •Help children keep good hygiene •Change the diapers of infants and toddlers •Organize activities so that children can learn about the world and explore interests •Develop schedules and routines to ensure that children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime •Watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring the problems to the attention of parents •Keep records of children’s progress, routines, and interest
