About Joyce Arellano-Bravo
At a job interview, a manager once retorted, "You're just all over the place!" Some time later, a VC nonchalantly declared me to be a "Generalist" based on my diverse background. Personally, I like to think of my professional trajectory as exquisitely non-linear, guided by an inherent inquisitiveness that has fueled my love for learning and exploration.I have had a life-long fascination with languages, world history (and later politics), and a particular affinity for Japan. It is precisely this fascination that has taken me to several continents, 3 of which I have called home. Everywhere I have traveled or lived, I have felt a powerful connection and an intense desire to build bridges of camaraderie and understanding across cultures and languages. It is no surprise then that I found myself on a 13-year teaching odyssey in 2 countries. I have taught Kindergarten through 12th grade, and have managed education programs in both the US and Japan. I have had the privilege of teaching and guiding students and team members, and ensuring that they have the knowledge, skills, supports, and sparkle they need to perform at their best and reach their full potential. In addition to my passion for teaching, I am an entrepreneur. While living in Japan, I identified a gap in the Japanese fitness education market and co-founded OLB.TV, an online Japanese-English fitness education video-based platform, reaching nearly 2 million views worldwide.Once I had a taste of entrepreneurship, I was hooked! I began to gravitate toward ways that I could combine my background in education with my passion for social good and the power of innovation. I joined a startup accelerator program and co-founded WeSolve, a platform where education, technology, innovation, and social impact intersect. If you are passionate about leveraging technology for good, I invite you to connect with me. Together WE can SOLVE the world's most pressing problems and co-create a more equitable and sustainable world.
