• Initiate, coordinate, and manage all investigational and evaluation activities associated with professional and general liability occurrences and claim pre-litigation files. Respect and maintain confidentiality regarding patient/guarantor financial data and patient medical data consistent with HIPAA standards.• Negotiate resolution with authority from Associate Director. Provide basic and complex preventive risk management assessment of processes, procedures, and programs, including in-service education, consultation, liaison activities, and on-call emergency assistance to providers.• Recommend resolution, and complete negotiation of resolution within authority granted by Associate Director. Complete notifications and financial recommendations needed for compliance with tracking and insurer requirements.• Provide on-call assistance for emergent/urgent risk management issues to all DUHS clinical staff and leadership as needed. On-call duties are assigned on a rotation basis when possible. • Providing training in RL6 Safety reporting system for all new staff.• Serve as Security Liaison Old Dominion/U.S. Security Associates, Inc. Duke Police and local Law Enforcement Agencies as requested.• Served on various committee’s to include: Complex Patient, Safety, Mortality Review, Patient Safety Care Quality Committee, and Infection Control Risk Assessment, Learning by Defects, Code Blue/Rapid Response Committee, and Environmental of Care Committee.

• Responsible for the risk management program at DRH with the oversight from DUHS Risk Management leadership.• Responsible for developing and implementing appropriate measures to identify and minimize the risk of injury to patients, visitors and staff and to minimize loss or damage to property.• Responsible for reporting exposures and identifying incidents and claims investigation following established department processes and participating in necessary leadership committees.• Identify and resolved staff and system issues (RL6 Safety Reporting System) which may impede compliance and departmental standards.• Respond promptly to client and claimant concerns with regard to response time or investigation period.• Liaison with Patient Safety, Regulatory, Compliance, Duke Police/Security, Patient Visitor and Relations, PRMO customer Service.
