RN-Coder Network founded in 2001 to respond to the need for hospital outpatient services to be correctly coded under Medicare's new Outpatient Payment System. I developed the nation's first accelerated continuing education program for nurses, physicians and other clinical personnel to learn correct coding for reimbursement. Other programs added were: Certified RN-Auditor Compliance Institute (2005) and the RN-Coder ICD10 Academy (2012). Next up for 2014: RN-Coder ICD10PCS Academy for inpatient procedure coding.

RN-Coder Network is a continuing education agency providing the nation's only CE program for nurses, physicians and other clinical personnel to learn coding of documentation, compliance, CDI, ICD10, CPT and how to prevent and detect fraud in the healthcare industry.

As the Senior Midwife and owner of the AquaNatal Birth Center, I supervised midwifery students from several programs -- both CPM and CNM. And I provided prenatal and postpartum services, delivered babies and taught Hypnobabies Childbirth Education classes. I also brought in specialists about waterbirth, pregnancy exercise, perineal repair, and midwives from Britain to share their experiences with midwives in California.

MRS was established in 1987 to provide electronic claims processing services to physicians. From my kitchen table I coded and file electronic claims from 6 - 18 physicians, earning a per-claim fee for each one. Later I started teaching my "trade secrets" to individuals and couples who traveled to California to learn how to do what I did. MRS "morphed" into the RN-Coder Network in 2001 to provide coding training to RNs, MDs and other clinical professionals -- responding to Medicare's changed in how it paid for outpatient services -- by the CPT procedure codes from the AMA.
