Daraja: Civic Initiatives forum is a non-governmental organization registered in 2003 with a vision of having “A literate and empowered society engaging actively in development and governance processes”. Our mission is to organize, empower and transform marginalized communities through service delivery, capacity building, advocacy and research. Daraja operates as a national civil society or public interest organization focusing in three programme areas; Early Childhood Development (ECD), Education and Civic Engagement.

An Alumni of an innovative leadership training & leadership program,As a participant i learnt about transformational leadership, applied design thinking in seeking solutions to social problems through an interactive and experiential education course through project-based development and achievement. YALI has enabled me to grow ,apply and be empowered to new leadership that will transform the East and Central Africa region and beyond in specifically the Civil Society sector.In addition i expanded my world view as an influencer to my community , my Africa and world over through interactions with diverse nations .

Under the UKAID Kenya Essential EducationProgrammes(KEEP), my experience working with vulnerable communities and specifically the out of school and most vulnerable and at-risk pupils in the informal schools on programs to enhance their access to schooling and ensure retention and completion presents me as a favorable candidate for the position. I have also participated in a fee payment through a cash transfer program to ensure access to education. I have worked with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) officials as well as Nairobi City Education to ensure that complementary schools meet criteria and qualify for the Alternative Provision to Basic Education & Training (APBET) registration. Through the initiatives to strengthen leadership and Management, I have participated in mentoring schools in the establishment of the functional Board of Management (BOM) to support learning in schools and improve the learning environment. I have wide understanding of the informal settlements in Nairobi including the social and economic dynamics that are critical in programming.

YOUNG DEVELOPMENT PROFFESSIONALS (YDP), EAST AFRICA A one year training and mentorship programme focusing on strengthening institutional management of civil Society organisations (CSOs) in East Africa and partnership with other sectors. A Learning process with young professionals and experts in fields of social development, including: health, education, rural development and livelihood. The scope of areas covered through the training includes; community development the PRA approach, project cycle implementation, Project Monitoring & Evaluation and resource mobilisation for projects. This was conducted with placement in an implementing organisation and professional mentors assigned throughout the period.

Played an assistant role to the Associate Registrar in student admission processes,information management,managed the student records,conducted short surveys and participated in the operationalisation of the student alumni database

Under the supervision of human rights and gender experts,participated in impact assessment and endline surveys for MS Kenya,Westminster Foundation for Democracy through conducting in depth interviews,and FGDs with beneficiaries across the country in development of enhanced institutions of governance, participated in the development of strategic plans for various organisation
